Dancing for Religion
Many religions around the world and throughout history have used dance in praise of their gods, in celebration of the seasons, and just as an expression of joy. Christianity has mixed feelings when it comes to dance. Some religions feel that all kinds of social dance can lead to forbidden acts or thoughts and tend to frown on dance in general because, while other Christian religions believe that a time, place, and purpose to dance. Some have even incorporated into their dancing religious ceremonies (weddings as an example). Most will agree that dance is a matter of personal belief in the Christian religion because of the heated debates that may occur on the subject.
Hinduism dance is an essential form of worship of different aspects of the Divine. This form of dance is often mistakenly referred to as classical Indian dance, but in reality it is a form of worship. There are several different dances for the gods and each god has a different preference.
Even the religion of Islam has its own version of dances for worship. Those who practice this form of dance for the purpose of worship are often referred as Whirling Dervishes.
Arm Dance
This is a form of dance that has a long history dating back to the Spartan warriors preparing for battle. This style of dance has been used throughout history and around the world by many nations and cultures as preparation, training, and raising the morale of upcoming battle. Although no longer widely used, and certainly not as a forerunner of the struggle, history and ceremony of the gun Dance is not forgotten and still practiced in ceremonial events of today to the way things are done in the past to honor.
Native American Tribal Dances
It is also worth noting that what has become is commonly known as war dances by Indian tribes may be the same weapon dances such a long and noble history around the world. Individual tribes had their own dances that were used in the preparation of the battle with other tribes, preparing for a big hunt, or preparing to defend itself against the ongoing invasion and removal.
War or the immediate struggle was not the only reason that Native American tribes, however, danced. Dance was an important part in the worship of various gods and tribal ceremonies or individual expressions of prayer, grief, joy, or simply the embrace of nature and become one with the world around them. Dance is essential to Native American heritage and culture. For Native American dance, the rhythm of the drum is an essential component. It is the drumbeat that the pace and intensity of dance drives.
Competitive Dance
Throughout the world there are people who dance competitively in all forms of dance. Recreational forms of dance in spiritual forms of dancing the races are fiercely competitive and often devote their lives and the vast majority of their free time to honing and perfecting their particular forms of dance. In competitive dance, there are judges judgments about artistic expression, technical skills, the costumes and the uniformity or the execution of movements. Those who dance competitively should be committed to their craft In order to remain competitive.
Of course some people simply dance because they want and there's certainly nothing wrong with that. There really is no bad reason to dance unless you are forced to do against your will.
