Boo! Did I scare you? Well I guess it scary is that it's almost that time of year when all our little ghosts, goblins and princesses will be roaming the streets. As parents of young children we can make choices for our children about Halloween and trick-or-treating. One thing that remains constant from year to year, the wonder and joy of dressing up in costume! A growing trend nationwide together with homemade costumes, the use of face paint to complete a costume. In fact some costumes can not be done in a different way. So what kind do you use? With all recalls dealing with paint and an increased
cases of allergies that paint is really safe to use? '
Unfortunately the answer is not completely black and white. We humans have a varying degree of sensitivity to cosmetics and chemicals, we see this in the mother who can not bear certain moisturizers, children who can not Use hot tub and all offices that ban fragrances due to severe allergies.
Craft paint
Too often well-intentioned volunteers will face paint at a local holiday craft fairs or carnivals, they paint in the supply closet, duly note that it is "not toxic". However, There seems to be a misinterpretation of the term "non-toxic." Only non-toxic means that something will not murder you if you swallow. (At least not right away.) This does not mean it is approved for us in the face or body. Think of it this way, a jalapeno is not toxic, but you would not want to rub on your face. Also a craft or acrylic paint may contain toxic substances such as polymers and potential carcinogens. If reactions occur, they most often painful raised blisters and itchy skin rash, rarely using craft paint
Some skin types may scar and severe anaphylactic allergy results in an inflammation of the airways.
Tempra Paint
Another dubious material is sometimes recommended Tempra paint mixed with the face lotion. And even our children may have painted themselves once or twice at home without side effects, Tempra is not FDA approved for facial use. Obviously our concerns are rightly raised when we deal with children who are sensitive to toxins than adults.
Food coloring
Other "recipes" available on the Internet using a variety of dyes. Websites promote use of dyes mixed with glycerin, flour, corn syrup or cold cream. And while most of these ingredients are 'food safe' there's no escaping the fact that you dye on the face of your child to apply – and possibly clothing, bedding and furniture. Any mother who made a birthday cake or two can testify the power of color food coloring!
While color is perhaps the least toxic of this short list of colors, if you suspect that a rash is caused by a substance that you painted on your child, wash immediately with cold water and mild soap. Be careful – sometimes harsh detergents soaps or even baby wipes can aggravate the problem. Try an over-the-counter Benadryl lotion. If the problem persists, contact your doctor immediately. As a reaction to a product occurs, it will probably happen in the first fifteen minutes. This applies to sensitive children react to industry-standard cosmetic grade makeup, and children who are painted with craft paint.
If a mother and a body artist I would never paint my child or a child, with less than top quality professional paints that you can buy from reputable online merchants or to select costume shops. A quality list of professional water based face suppliers include: Snazaroo, Wolfe Brothers, Graftobian, Fantasy World Wide, Paradise, Kryolan, Ben Nye and Fardel. Saw an angel but the face was smudged, like wet paint, no facial detail seen?
It was a human form with wings. I have the feeling that he my guardian angel, but curiously the reasons I am unable to face the angel to be seen.
I'm pretty sure angels never leave their faces see. Some even say that the whole "your eyes off 'from the old days you had to pretect not be slain or crazy. Regarding your face seems to you protection. I do not think it was paint, I think it was just an 'unformed' face. Just a thought
