The Music Box
Have you ever wondered where the music began? Why does music begin? When I think about this question, my conclusion is the view that the earliest melodious strains were reproduced to the atmospheric music of nature to imitate. Our society is so restless and busy that we miss from natures sweetest sounds. Ive always loved music! Music can calm the soul and the mind calm. My earliest fascination with a music box came when I was just a little girl. A ballerina music box was given to me when I was six years old. Whenever I got into trouble with my parents, I would withdraw my bedroom, grab my ballerina music box, lay in the bed, the wind ballerina and the music would begin. I would look her way the music flowed effortlessly from the base.
Music boxes are one of lifes little unexpected treasures! A wooden or porcelain box just decorated open, the music starts and memories flooding! Sometimes a new memory is created. That is the case for me. Ive always liked the rustic smell of an old music box and try to change the name of the song being played to call. You just cannot help but smile!
A romantic Valentine's Day my husband of 15 years, gave me a collection of fine porcelain music box with love songs. The collection was called Songs of Love Music Box Collection. The first was received on Valentine's Day and every month thereafter one year, I got a unique music box, each with a special love song. Over the years, Ive come to the treasure these gifts even more than when I first received. I like a music box open, take a deep breath, put the wind up key and just listening, drinking in the enchanting melody and remember that someone loves me.
I love when my granddaughter comes over. She points to the curio cabinet with the music box and says, "Play, grandma, play!" We'll pull out a music box at a time, wind the key smiling and cunning as we look into each other's eyes with great expectation, almost holding our breath so we dont miss a note of the chorus. Priceless moments. Simple moments. Beautiful moments.
There are all kinds of music boxes: jewelry boxes, dolls with music boxes, musical carousels, musical ballerina jewelry boxes, musical water globes, patriotic music boxes, music boxes with sports themes (football, basketball, football, hockey, golf, etc.) There is religious music boxes and music boxes to some of our favorite animals to celebrate.

American Girl clothing used to sell Angelina Ballerina and her books, but when I started seeing a similar doll sold by other people in stores like Target. American girl finished her shortly thereafter. Does anyone remember how much retail Angelina Ballerina for by American Girl? Thank you!
Hi, I bought an Angelina at AG Place in Chicago just over 3 years ago. I'm going to guess she was about $ 20 – $ 25. Pricey for a little mouse doll, but not so much that I would not buy one for my then three years old when her older sister got her first AG doll. Hmm, maybe I still have the box that Angelina the price should have noticed, I guess I'll edit. This answer if edited to add: Yes, I have the box, Angelina and a hardcover book (pooled) was $ 27.95.
