Barbie Bloomingdale

One way that even you can Become a Top Fasion Designer
You know you're destined to be a fashion designer if you: a) most of your childhood making clothes for your Barbie dolls instead of playing with your friends, b) read fashion magazines instead of your school, c) ran a boutique out of your basement at age 10. In other words: if you want to be the next Yves Saint Laurent, it helps to completely and utterly obsessed with fashion.
However, there are many aspects of the profession. Working as a fashion designer might as well say leading a design team at a sportswear company as producing a label under your own name. Although the former career may not seem as glamorous as final, it will surely make your life less stressful. Create your own label takes time, dedication and hard work. Not to mention living just above the poverty line for several years.
Choosing a strategy
There are many different ways to embark upon a fashion career as there are styles of design. Ralph Lauren's Polo empire was founded on a small tie collection that he sold to Bloomingdales. Helmut Lang decided to open his own clothing store when he could not find a t-shirt he wanted. Michael Kors a network of customers by selling clothes in a trendy NYC boutique. However, most people find that the best basis for a design career is to a degree of film academy in fashion to get a prestigious school. Besides teaching you the craft, a good school will also add credibility to your resume. "We live in a brand the society, and the name of a good school behind you really helps, "says Carol Mongo, Director of the Parsons School of Fashion Design in Paris.
Application from one school to
There are a lot of colleges that have fashion programs, but only a handful has the kind of reputation that can really push your career. It is difficult to enter these schools as competition is high, and they tend to be very selective. You apply by sending a portfolio of drawings of your designs. "We can not learn how to be creative – you have to bring your creativity to us and let us to lead you on your way," says Carol Mongo She recommends students to some sewing experience before they get to apply drawing is also an important skill for a designer -.. it's the way you communicate your ideas. To an impressive portfolio to build is a good idea to have some experience in sketching, taking art classes will help you understand form and proportion. But you do not need an expert drawer to the acceptance at school. "The most important quality we seek in our students is that they are truly passionate and exuberant about fashion," says Mongo. "If you have great ideas, but can not draw, there are always ways around it. You could for instance your designs on a mannequin and take pictures of it. "
What school will do for you
Most fashion programs are three to four years. During that time you will take fine arts classes and study drawing, color composition and form. You'll also learn pattern making, draping and cutting techniques. One of the main advantages of design schools is that they really work closely with industry. Parsons, for example, have "designer critic projects" where successful designers like Donna Karan and Michael Kors work directly with the graduating students. Ambitious students the opportunity for prestigious awards and grants, allowing them to gain attention and financial support. A very important event is the fashion show at the end of last semester, when students graduation show their collections. Many important people in the fashion industry attend these shows to scout new talent. It's also a chance to really outrageous and get noticed by the media. Hussein Chalayan, for example, became instantly infamous when he showed rotting clothes that he had buried in his backyard for his graduation show at Saint Martins.
Alternative Routes
"Let's be realistic," says Carol Mongo at Parsons, "School is not for everyone, if you are just looking for a job in the fashion industry get -. not a career as a designer – you probably do not need to go to school. "If you want to work as a seamstress or pattern maker is probably the best an internship to apply to a fashion house and work your way up. However, there are many examples of famous designers who started out as interns that no formal training. For example, the brightest new star of Dior menswear designer Hedi Slimane, had a degree in journalism when he began working with menswear designer Jose Levy. Balenciaga's Nicolas Ghesquière is another brilliant example of a successful designer who learned the job hands-on, as an assistant to Jean-Paul Gaultier. Usually you apply for an internship by sending a portfolio you are interested in a fashion house but it is a good idea to call them in advance exactly what they need to see. It is also important to note that competition is fierce, and unless you have personal connections, it is very difficult to get an internship without an education.
There are designers such as Luella Bartley, who started their own businesses after working as stylists for several years, allowing the construction of an industrial network, and a good marketing sense.
Understanding the business
Unfortunately, it's not enough for a designer to be creative, you also have some business sense. As fashion gets more and more corporate-driven, it is important to be aware of the business environment and understanding the mechanics behind it. By religiously reading trade magazines such as "Women's Wear Daily" you get a lot of valuable information. If you want your own business run, very organized and you should at least learn the basics of the economy. Many fashion schools are currently growing business classes in their curriculum. "Our students must smart enough to know how to negotiate a contract, or choosing a business partner, "says Carol Mongo. It is perhaps telling that many of the designers really successful today, such as Calvin Klein or Tom Ford, are involved in every aspect of the business – from licensing strategies for advertising campaigns to actually designing the clothes.

Poor Sarah Palin now she's the victim?
Liberals are not the only ones bashing her and now conservatives see her as the victim being bullied. When all said and done, both Republicans and Democrats know they are not VP material. Why just blame the Democrats for the barbie bashing? In case you are wondering Sarah Palin is not a victim and she is using this election in her favor to pretend she is the average "Joe". Yeah right side may relate to the average "Joe" currently struggle to make ends meet and not out shopping at Bloomingdale's, Nemius Marcus and Saks Fifth Avenue. If the average "Joe" was that kind of American money would not be a recession. Poor Sarah everyone picking on her.
Well, all I can say, if they do not handle that they should not have run as VP. I mean, seriously, this is the second highest position in the U.S.. Anyone who wants that kind of job is fighting to earn it. It is not intended to be a cakewalk. Yes, tougher Palin, the face of the media, sharks and everything, and stop winging. If you can not hack it, quit.
