Are you a consultant who is ready to throw in the towel because you get on the phone and begging family and friends to keep you help by booking a again – to show? Yougone have your upline for advice to be told, "Well, if you need reservations, just click on the phone and call people."
Just get on the phone for bookings?
Let's think about it, "Just get on the phone and call people." We are often told to get our goals to eight or twelve entries. We are advised to keep calling people until we all bookings we want. You start calling people and you hear:
- No
- Now it's not a good time.
- Not really interested.
- Sorry! I do not parties.
- No – sorry.
- I'm really busy and have no time.
- I did a party a few months ago, so I'm not interested.
That's a lot of rejection! No wonder that consultants hate getting on the phone. How about taking a different approach to the phone? How about calling easier and more realistic?
Preventing Rejection – Get more bookings
Instead of making the many requests for bookings and getting tons of rejecting what would happen if you have a goal to call three people a day for two weeks? Would not that take a tremendous amount of pressure from you? Not a target made to get X number of bookings. Set a goal to talk to three people per day for a fixed amount of days. This is do-able and is emotionally a lot easier to do.
How To Get More Bookings
Now the question is – what to say. We collect all kinds of guest information, but are rarely told how to use to benefit our business. Guests tell us, the door prize slips and wish lists, the products they are interested in if they ever go on special. Use this information to a "special" to develop and get bookings. Your call would go like this:
Hi Sally, This is Ruth Fantastic Company. We met together on Mary's when she had her great feast. Is this a good time for you to chat? Sally, I do not know if you want to or not interested, but I noticed the night of the party of Mary's that you wrote on your door prize slip you are interested in this particular product, if it ever went on special. Well, just by having of a party you can receive the item for you — and then tell her special. Is it free or is it at a discount?
She can say no. They may say they are only interested in this product if it ever goes on sale. But they can say, "Yes!"
Using the information that our customers have a more productive way to getting bookings please call our family and friends and beg them to another party to have.

What is a World Book Encyclopedia set worth?
I almost threw an entire encyclopedia set today and I decided to see how much it was worth. The World Book site says $ 1000. But I'm not sure if mine is the exact. I have a complete set of world book 75th anniversary edition.
With the incredible access to information provided by the Internet, encyclopedias are not popular today. Given the speed at which information changes and updates expandes, encyclopedia quickly, even with obsolete annual updates. The World Book site would not be served, there were reports that the sets of the encyclopedia are worthless. You might check on Ebay and http://www.abe.com for price comparisons. There are enough people who think World Book (or others) like to have in the house or a nice edition to their home libraries, or for sentimental reasons. But for the most part, they are an anachronism. I have an extensive reference library for my work. I rarely find these days that I have the individual books to pull out of the closet. I do a quick Google and am able to check multiple sources in a few minutes.
