Dolls and you need to know about them
Imagination plays a large part of growing up. Children are fascinated by acting out what it would be be raised. Toys play an essential part of this process. Almost anything can be a toy. From sticks and stones at old socks, if it can be considered, the a toy.
I suppose that dolls have been around since before written history. Traditionally, a toy that girls have for centuries have used dolls played a vital role in the growing-up process. From learning how to care for a baby to be a jet-setting executive, puppets have helped young women dream about the future.
Like children playing with them, dolls come in all shapes, colors, ages and sizes. There are Barbie, Ken, Cabbage Patch, My Little Pony, Bratz and American Girl Dolls, to name but a few. They can be as simple as paper cut-out dolls and so complex and expensive, as detailed porcelain dolls. For the guys out there, let's not forget GI Joe, and all that "action figures" (come on guys, admit it, they really are puppets, too!).
As varied as the types of dolls, so are the materials they make. Early dolls were made of wood and, later, paper-mache. China had the most beautiful doll heads and hands, sometimes with wooden-jointed bodies. In the early days of the United States many dolls were made at home. Sew a few old rags, and you have a new playmate.
Of course, nowadays dolls are not just for kids. Doll Collection has become a very popular hobby for both adults and children. There are many types of collections. Some focus on the ubiquitous Barbie, especially in the beginning and now rare editions. Others choose antique dolls, dolls or for a specific period of time. Other collectors concentrate on a single manufacturer, country / pop style. If you do not want digging and research, there are many special or collector's edition of dolls produced today.
No discussion of dolls would be complete without a glance the growing hobby of dolls houses and miniatures. This has become a hobby in itself. Once more, materials and types are as varied as the dolls they shelter. A dollhouse can be made by a child of a simple cardboard box. Dollhouses can offer to the exact scale replica of the exact size homes with furniture, and even full enlightenment. Those with limited space can opt for a "shadow box" do it carefully details a room of a house. It would not surprise me if somewhere a stickler for detail builds a dollhouse with a fully working bathroom!
So, whether Barbie is jet setting all over the world, or GI Joe is to save the world, if you just want to "play" or construct an exact replica of the White House, dolls and their accessories are you where your imagination can go. They may be a rainy day go faster, or allow an overwrought adult a creative outlet. How you look, dolls are cool.

Too old to play with dolls.?
Okay, so my 14-year-old nephew (I'm 15), I'm just going to call her, still plays with dolls.Like, barbies, porcelain, Bratz, all those.I too.Are sometimes play with her we are too old to embrace our inner youth? I also heard that according to studies teens / tweens who play with dolls are supposed to be more creative and intelligent.Which, I'm guessing it's true, because me and her have been on the honor roll since seventh grade and have been called several times creative Our lives. So the real question here is, we are too old to play with dolls? What do you think is an appropriate age for a child to stop playing with toys.I personally, love being a boy. Haha, the bad part is that when my mother or her mother will see us playing with dolls, they threaten to bust the camera xD But I think it's better than going out, rebel and do drugs or other bad things. My mother should be thankful, lol she is the one who bought me the first dollls xD
I think it's an interesting comment About smart and creative. That's exactly how I turned out. I played with dolls forever especially paper dolls and many of my friends did, we were 14 and 16. Then thought I'm too old, so I gave them to my sisters. My mother saved some. Let your mom tease them lol! Today when I was 50 years, I started collecting dolls again, especially antiques. I turned that into a company and today I over the puppets know the way back to 1700, writing and research on the history of these as toys. I answer many questions and dolls here on yahoo, I get many thank you notes from people very grateful to know about their dolls and toys. Girls go for it and just have fun!
