A Basic Guide To Comic Book Collecting
Even with the emergence of popular entertainment, such as Internet and satellite television, comic books have maintained an impressive market share of consumer spending. There is simply no substitute for the unique way a comic can present a story and to its readers. There are five different eras of comic book memorabilia. The Platinum Age period represent the oldest, dating between the years 1800 and 1937. The Golden Age covers the years from 1938 to 1955. Silver Age comic books are dated between 1956 and 1969, and the Bronze Age occurred between 1970 and 1979. The Modern Age includes everything that was produced from 1980 until today. Each period is unique and distinctive in the way publications written, produced and distributed. Obviously the earlier periods offer the most valuable objects, but there are still plenty of rare and limited strips found in modern time.
Today, collectors will find a large number of outlets to help them add to their collection. The Internet has only increased the accessibility of difficult to find comics to collectors worldwide. eBay, Craigslist, and online comic book stores to find exactly what you want as simple as clicking a mouse. While these outlets are probably the most popular markets for collectors, there is much demand for local comic book shows and shops. Natural kiosks and bookstores still the best source for the most recent publications. Ideally, the smart collector comfortable using all of the outlets listed here. You just never know where you might discover the next hidden gem add to your collection.
Besides these basics of comic book collecting, there are other tricks to learn for the new collector.
