Choosing a Dust Collector for Air Cleaning
Oleg Systems Co. engineers industrial dust collectors and dust collection systems. Dust collecting equipment available in numerous designs by use of a number of principles and with wide variation in effectiveness, initial cost, operating and maintenance cost, space, arrangements and material of construction.
Factors influencing dust collection equipment selection include:
Concentration and particle * pollution;
* Degree of collection;
* Characteristics of air or gas flow;
* Characteristics of pollution;
* Methods of disposal.
Depenging the above factors, the following types Oleg Systems dust collector can be used:
ELECTROSTATIC PRECIPIRATORS
The principle of the collection is based on the ability to give a negative charge to particles in the gas stream causing them to move and keep the grounded or positively charged collector plates. Most filters are designed for horizontal air flow at speeds of 100 to 600 fpm.
– Dust Collectors
Fabric arresters are high efficiency, average cost collectros. Dust extraction is obtained by building up a mat of material on the dirty side of the media. This mat provides the filtering of overloading bed. Through of this bed a high degree of removal is even obtained on submicron-size particles.
– Intermittent Duty Dust Collector
These species can use either envelope or storage arrangement of their contents, but will generally be employed to shake or vibrate as a means of reconditioning. Periodic Uusually at 4 to 6 hours intervals0 air flow should be stopped to effect reconditioning – thus the classification "intermittent".
– Multiple-unit, which operate continuously, Automatic Fabric Collectors
The disadvanteges of stopping the flow of vibrations and variations in the airflow can be overcomed by distractors of the section that continued operation of the automatic exhaust dampers periodically take a part of the service for reconditioning the fabric while the remaining chapters take the entire gas volume.
– Reverse-Jet Fabric Collectors
The reverse-jet type differs from the conventional arrsters in the use of high compressed air to clean the fabric. One type uses high pressure (30 "- 40" WG) froma travel "blow ring" to the assembled cake apart from within the substance tube. Another type uses high pressure compressed air (100 PSI) to dust cake from the outside of the fabric tube or envelope to break through the intermittent application of reverse-jet compressed air.
– Reverse Flow Collapse, Continuous-Duty Collectors
Reverse-flow collapse cleaning is generally used with glass media which is fragile and requires a gentle cleaning technique. Reversing the glass flow provides a gentle collapse of the fabric usually in a "four point star" braking the dust cake which the gravity falls into the funnel.
WET COLLECTORS
Wet collectors are available in many different designs. They have the ability to sustain temperatures and moisture laden gases to be treated. The collection of dust in wetted form eliminates a secondary dust problem in disposal of collected material. Also represent some dust explosion or fire hazard when dry and wet collectors eliminate or at least reduction of Hazzard.
– Spray Tower Room or
It consists of a round rectangular room where the water is introduced through nozzles. There are many variations in design, but the main mechanism is impaction of dust particles on the liquid droplets made through nozzles. These droplets are separated from the airflow by centrifugal force or impingement on the water eliminators.
– Packed Towers
Collectors in this group are essentially contact beds through which gases and liquids pass either simultaneous counter = simultaneously or in cross-flow and are primarily used for applications where the gas, vapor and mist removal.
– Wet Centrifugal Collector
Wet centrifugal dust collectros use centrifugal force to the particle acceslerate impigne them on a wet and collector surface. These collectors are more efficient than the type of room. Some are availbale in different sections of impingement.
– Wet Dynamic filters
This type uses water sprays in a fan housing and obtain precipitation of the particles on the wetted surface of a fan with special fan blade shape. No internal pressure drop is concerned, although the mechanical efficiency is slightly lower than the mechanical efficiency of the standard exhaust fans.
– Orifice Type Collectors
In this group of wet collectors design, the airflow through the collector is contacted with a sheet of water in a small passage. Water flow can be induced by the velocity of flow or maintained by pumps and weirs.
– Venturi scrubbers
This collector uses a venturi-shaped construction to determine throat velocities considerably higher than those experienced in the opening type. The collection mechanism of the venturi is impaction. As wet collectors in general, the collection efficiency of the venturi increases with higher pressure. Different pressure are achieved by designing for selected gas velocities in the throat. The venturi is a gas conditioner iteself making intimate contact between the particles in the gas and the jet streams from multiple washings.
DRY COLLECTORS
– Cyclone Dust Collectros
Cyclone Collectors are often used to remove coarse dust from an airflow, as an efficient pre-cleaner to dry or wet dust collectors and / or separated stabbing in product handling systems using an air stream to transport material. Key advantages are low cost, low maintenance and low pressure drop (to 0.75 "to 1.5" WG), but this type dust collector can not be used to collect fine particles.
– High Efficiency Centrifugal Collector
Developed, with higher centrifugal forces exerted on particles in a gas stream. Improving dust separation efficiency is being obtained by 1) increasing velocities through a cyclone type dust collector, 2) using a skimmer or other design feature, 3) using a number of small diameter cyclones in parallel and 4) placing units in series in a number of unusual applications.
– Dry Type Dynamic precipitation
In this compilation, substance has been beaten down by centrifugal force on specially shaped blades on a wheel extractor and then transferred through a dust circuit in the fan housing to the dust storage funnel.
– Louver type dust collectors
Centrifugal forces can be applied to a particle through a rapid change in direction airflow through the plates set at an angle of airflow. Cross Coarse particles and air flow will be back to dirty air Side Project by forces that can be produced from such an effect.
– Settling chamber
Fabric is arranged in a large room, where the transport rates are reduced to the point where the particles are no longer transmitted. – Drinkable Unit Collectors
To fill the need for dust collection of isolated, portable dust or frequently moved production operations, a number of the unit collector designs are availbale with capacities ranging from 200 to 1000 CFM.
