Debt Relief Help – How can a collection agency legally do?

If you have credit problems, it is important to know what creditors and collection agencies can and can not do to recover a debt.

The state Consumer Protection Act prohibits certain debt collection practices. When dealing directly with you, the creditors and collection agencies may not:

Call more than twice for each debt in any period of 7 days at home, or more than twice for each debt in any period of 30 days calling at somewhere other than your home.

Call you without identifying the name of the creditor and the name of the person calling.

Call you at times other than your normal waking hours. If you're awake are unknown, then the creditor or collector can only call 8:00 to 9:00 p.m.

Visit your home at times other than those listed above. A collector may not visit more than once In a period of 30 days for any debt, unless you authorize additional visits.

Lead to you being charged for long distance calls (or other similar charges).

Call you at work if you asked that they not call. Your hearing request is valid for only 10 days, unless you confirm in writing within 7 days after making the request. Written request shall be valid until you write to the collector to remove the restriction.

Contact you directly if the creditor or collection agency told only contact your lawyer.

Falsely threatening legal action.

Use profane or obscene language.

In addition, creditors and collection agencies may not

Tell anyone (including friends, neighbors, relatives or employers) about your debt.

Send collection announcements in a way that openly suggests or implies that you owe a debt (for example using postcards or descriptive addresses.)

Federal Law provides some additional protection from debt collection agencies. (This law does not apply to creditors):

Collectors must verify your debt. Collectors must stop calling you if, within 30 days after your initial contact, send the agency a letter stating that you owe the debt. They can only prolong their collection activities, If you are sent proof of the debt.

You can stop a debt collector from contacting you. Write a letter to the collector telling them to stop contact you. Once the collection agency receives your letter, they may not contact you again except to say that there should be no further contact. They may also contact you to provide you know when they enter a number of specific measures, such as suing you.

Does anyone know where to find the Bourne Collectors set?

I found it on eBay are sold as the Jason Bourne Collectors set or something. Anyway, it has all three Bourne movies (Identity, Supremecy, Ultimatum) and I need to get before Valentines Day. Does anyone know of any stores that sell it? and do not say Walmart, I've checked, they do not.

It's called either the Jason Bourne of The Bourne Files Collection. Apparently it was released under both titles, and sold well and not, as many people say that some stores are sold in their neighborhood. Best Buy probably has it.
