Lionel Model Train Sets, A Guide to Set Up
Here are some tips and guidelines for maintaining and cleaning your model trains. Whether your Lionel trains or another manufacturer, a set of benefits of regular maintenance to keep it running smoothly.
Lionel locomotives are designed in a manner that controls can be done by removing the cover. Remove the screw located under the chimney to the cap. Spread the diesel engine the body until the pins on the sides and pull gently upwards. Then the engine to the wheels on his head open. Pare off all the layers of dirt and dust with an X-Acto knife. A technique for tracking the collectors to clean the engine without the body turning slowly. Application Rail-Zip cleaner to a clean cloth and apply the cloth to the collector, while it is running. You also need to clean the brushes. You can purchase TV tuner cleaner from most electronics stores and use to spray the brushes. Allow the cleaning solution drip off and then the area dry with a clean cloth. Put your body after you have cleaned it.
You also need to perform maintenance on the wheels of the freight cars. Clean the wheels are necessary for any Lionel model train smoothly. One way to clean the wheels is mounted on a straight stretch of track a 18-inch 2×4 board. Then cover the heads of the rails with a cloth or paper towel and slowly drip the rubbing alcohol. Place a few small drops of Goo-Gone on track before running the cars. Enter the locomotive over the rails back and again until the wheel is clean and shiny.
