Barbie and Ken
Barbie and Ken (aka Ken Carson), two lovers doll Mattel toys introduced in the early sixties as the fictitious boyfriend / girlfriend. Similar to his female counterpart, Ken had a line of fashionable clothing and accessories. The stories Barbie, Ken and Barbie met on the set of a TV commercial of 1961. In the book, Oppenheimer says that Ken Handler "grew up ashamed and humiliated by having a boy doll anatomically incorrect named after him with no hint.
