In the world of cartoons, animated sequence can be no more saints than Mickey Mouse avid Splish-splash, and abracadabra gene in a desperate attempt to reign in the dancing brooms in "The Sorcerer's Apprentice" section of Walt Disney's Fantasia. That is what this movie is named, and that order appears in this film, but the rest of the story is completely new.
Blake Nicholas Cage plays Balthazar, one of three students of the original Arthur Wizard Merlin back in 740 AD Blake was in love The second student Veronica (played by Monica Bellucci), but was betrayed by Maxim Horvath (played by Alfred Molina) .. Merlin's third of the students. As part of this betrayal, Veronica ends up possessed by Morgana Merlin's nemesis. Morgana, Veronica Horvath and ultimately imprisoned for centuries in a nesting doll.
Blake, once so much in love with Veronica spends the next few centuries to find a particular descendant of Merlin the Magician … "The prime minister Merlinian". Only with his Fri Veronica and help can he defeat Morgana.
The story jumps to the present day, where Blake finally meet "The Prime Minister Merlinian", a young 10-year-old boy named Dave Stutler (played by Jay Baruchel) as he wanders in Blake's magic store and frees accident Horvath.

Horvath commit the rest of his life to freeing the evil Morgana and the destruction of the mortal world. But a clever plot twist results Horvath Blake and stuck together in an urn. Ultimately, 10 years passed until they are more liberated. Horvath immediately begins his quest to free Morgana. Blake has no choice but to search for the boy who walked into his shop 10 years ago.
He finds the boy, David, after a 20 years old, nerdy science NYU large. David is only Blake's hope to release Veronica and defeating the combined forces of Horvath and Morgana.
The rest of the film deals with Blake "learn" his new student David the subtleties of magic in preparation for the confrontation with evil wizards. This will remind older viewers of the Master / Apprentice scenes in Star Wars, where Yoda teaching Luke Skywalker in preparation for his fight with Darth Vader. The special effects and CGI in this part of the movie is spectacular.
Nicholas Cage is just great if he can play quirky characters, and his assistant is just fantastic. He delivers lines with such amusing smirk that would sound corny as voiced by other actors. But if we discover later, he is a dangerous enemy, when the chips are down.
If the student, Jay Baruchel is almost perfect as the nerdy student who at first Blake Vagabond treats like crazy, then slowly begins to realize how powerful he really is. His early training scenes with Cage are priceless as he slowly learns from its latent wizard powers.
But the scene where everyone is talking about the one where the course is "too big for his Britches" Dave tries some magic on his own to an attempt to short jobs have been cut off after the Sorcerer Blake leaves. The dancing brooms and never ending water buckets are all here as Dave tries desperately to undo to be wandering magic spell. The director and actors nailed this scene. And the look on the Sorcerer Blake's face when he walks into this mess is easily one of the best double takes of the year.
The main components of the "National Treasure" movies are … director Jon Turteltaub, actor Nicholas Cage and Jerry Bruckheimer. As in the successful series, the director combines a beautiful combination of action and comedy. The movie does not overdo the special effects, except in the magical scenes.
I never thought it possible to make a feature length film by a small animated sequence from Disney's Fantasia.

Who is the Mego doll?
This doll is dressed in a red sweater type suit. It was made by Mego Corp. in 1974. Mego Corp. is a company that made many of the action figure / Barbie dolls such as Batman, Wizard of Oz, Sonny & Cher and many others. Anyways, I'm sure this doll is someone (and it's probably obvious), but I can not figure out who she is. I looked on Ebay but could not find a match. Anyone know? Thanks.
