Woods
The two main species of wood used for dollhouses are plywood and MDF. Some models, however, use other types of forests.
MDF is a compressed form of artificial sawdust and glue. It is a popular choice for wooden dollhouses, because it is durable and affordable, it's easy to cut, and the smooth surface is paint-friendly. The fact that it does not splinter is also a plus for safety of your children.
Some people, however, dislike using MDF because it is not authentic and top quality wood and working with it also generates a huge amount of dust.
Is thinner than MDF plywood, making it less durable. It has a slightly rough surface and even with a coat of paint, the grain of the wood can still be visible. You will see that used, in particular Collector's Edition of dollhouses, because they are perfect for fancy dollhouse trim and other minor elements. Plywood comes in large plates because of their light weight and are durable, easy transportation from one workplace to another.
An example of rarely used wood dollhouses would be oak. They are rarely painted when used for making dolls' houses, because their natural appearance deserves recognition already. Besides, with the price you would pay for such material, you should let people know that you are using oak for your doll, do not you?
Style
Finally, consider the style of dollhouse you intend to buy. This is especially important if you plan to buy a kit instead of a complete. Consider the level of difficulty involved.

Where can I find 1 / 6 scale doll family?
I bought my daughter a 1 / 6 scale dollhouse for Christmas. Yes, I know it fits Barbie dolls, but I would like to know a doll family. (Mom, Dad, at least one daughter) Any ideas?
