In the Land of Oz – Dorothy's Fitness
Wearing a pedometer works! Research shows that people who wear a pedometer while walking about 2,000 to 4,000 steps per day is roughly equivalent to walking 1 or 2 miles. If you are walking and exercising, you should use next step to a real fitness program.
If wearing a pedometer provides additional incentive to exercise more like Dorothy, you the benefits of keeping your body to pick a healthier weight. Regular physical activity and a healthy weight also help maintain the body's blood sugar level and a healthier heart.
Adding some form of daily Exercise is also one of the best ways to reduce your risk of cancer. It is important to remember that working towards at least 30 minutes of moderate activity (such as walking speed) is what you must strive. If you walk along the road for an additional 30 minutes per day, you can usually keep from gaining additional weight. Eters help resolve the common problem of tracking your daily movements if you do not have time to have a full 30 – 60 minutes per day to break for the effective exercise. Wearing the pedometer will keep track of the smaller periods of time for you. Normally you do not think it is so much to carry when you walk from Toto's dog house to the kitchen but because your muscles to get there, it is considered a form of exercise.
Of course, this is not the kind of exercise that will tone up and build the same muscles, but some exercise is better for you than not at all, and as wearing a pedometer helps jog your mind into a sort of "I need more exercise" mode, it is worth worthy to wear one. Very few people realize that Dorothy wore a pedometer in the Land of Oz. The Tin Man thought it was a compass Dorothy and allow borrowing. Well, they finally got home!
Make sure you wear the pedometer on the right hip, so it can measure your body up and down motion. Every movement counts as one step. Pedometers work best when you walk with a speed of at least 3 miles per hour or faster. The Wicked Witch of the West Dorothy clocked the speed at 12 miles per hour when the flying monkeys were after her.
The average person has about 5,000 steps in one day. A doubling of this amount may seem hard to do but if you gradually increase the number of steps you take, you will continue to walk every day without hardly realizing it.
An early goal to aim for is 10,000 steps per day, which is about 30 minutes. After reaching that goal, try to get 11,000 to 12,000 steps per day. Eters can be more aware of your level of daily activities, so wearing one is a great start to an exercise program. What better way to an exercise program or take the same road that Dorothy followed to start.
