Video editing software: A Modern Marvel
Today computers are working a miracle in my opinion. Did you know that the computers, around one million U.S. dollars of took the equipment to stock a professional editing room? Did you have multiple tape decks, a switcher, an effects generator, character generator, an audio mixer, signal amplifiers, several years of experience to monitor and control everything.
To let all this stuff per hour, it costs $ 500 – $ 1,000 per hour for editing. A thirty seconds spot would easily ten hours to edit, even a relatively simple. That's ten grand just for a step in the production of something that lasts half measly minutes!
Ouch!
We have great compared to that. Today, ten grand is more than enough for an entire system and all the software you would ever need to edit a lifetime shows buy.
Computer editing is great fun and the creative possibilities are endless.
Computer editing revolution in the entire television and video industry. Computer editing put power in the hands of ordinary people, not just the companies that could afford one million U.S. dollars editing suites.
For a small investment, (perhaps nothing more than a free computer video editing software already on it) you have the ability to provide professional quality video, edited to produce stories.
I have Windows Movie Maker version 5.1 for free on the Compaq I bought at Sam's Club for half-off after Christmas.
Movie maker will mix easily edit your video and add professional-looking graphics. You have two lines of audio you can cut and paste. Every Mac comes with free iMovie, which is probably a better program than Movie Maker and definitely a killer freebie. Both Killer freebies. Want more creative and complex editing options than what freebies you give you awesome software for $ 50 – $ 300. If you go to Full Tilt Boogie, software Hollywood can be held for $ 1,300 Apple Final Cut Pro, now called Studio 2 is the ultimate video editing software experience in my humble opinion.
Then came FCP first on the market, the small change was at $ 1,000, compared to its competitor, Avid is the $ 50,000 version of Media Composer. At the time, people were screaming composer in the media to learn, because it seemed like a bargain compared to the revolutionary one million dollar fully equipped suites. Then suddenly, you can program an equal to the media composer for just a grand? Holy crap!
Final Cut Pro, the price today of $ 1,299 may seem high newbies, but the power of GBF may not be underestimated. It can do anything you can imagine and then some. Hollywood uses FCP. However, chances are you will not be bound Hollywood. Final cut express is only $ 300 and gives you all the punch you'd probably ever want unless you compete at the very top level. FCE is what I just bought.
Many companies put video editing software, but I must confess my bias for Macs and Apple software for editing. That's what I always used to work for large companies and the vast majority of the professionals know I prefer Apple computers to PCs for video editing and other major file-creative tasks. There are one million and one reasons, but I've seen these heated debates on the subject, it's scary. Here is an actual conversation
I witnessed: We PCs for editing your over my dead body! That can be arranged! I hate those crazy things!
I try not to get called on, but my money goes to Apple.
Since PC firmly dominate the market if I think they should or not, there are plenty of video editing programs for the PC market.
Sony Vegas Movie Studio is popular. I've seen it for $ 99 at the Best Buy store in the street and for $ 63.99 on Amazon. The reviews are mixed, Some people give up in confusion, but others trudge through the learning curve and say it's a good program. It may be a lot more than the freebies.
Corel DVD movie maker 6 goes for about $ 48 on Amazon and Pinnacle Studio runs about $ 50. Neither is as advanced as Sony Vegas, but as the price indicates, you do more with them than you can with the freebies.
Corel Paint Shop Pro for still images and Sony Vegas and combine them into a call Corel Sony Visual creations. $ 110 on Amazon.
Video editing software a learning curve, but it's really no more difficult than using a word processor.
Keep in mind that video editing requires a lot of your computer. Video files are huge, and making them spin and dance requires power. Get the biggest, most powerful computer you can afford. The Mac G-5 blows every other computer in the pond when it comes the computer video editing. But what you have to work.
