The winter solstice and the essence of the winter season
The winter season officially begins with the solstice – which falls on Monday, December 21, 2009 at 9:47 AM Pacific . Time this year The Sun is the shortest time of year on the winter solstice, making it our longest night It marks a shift in the seasons -. Autumn-winter. The actual date changes every year, always falling between December 20 and 23 in the northern hemisphere.
THE IMPORTANCE of the winter solstice
The winter solstice has great widely celebrated since antiquity regarded Midwinter in fact much older calendar systems -. or the middle of winter instead of the beginning – this is the day when the sun is farthest from us that the throughout the year, it marks an important turning point .. – When the days begin to display his more darkness in the middle of the annual cycle. On this day we begin our journey from the amid the shadows and on the other side. Many of the ancient pyramids and structures such as Stonehenge were calculated and built around these days that a precise alignment with the sun creates a natural light show inside them at the time of the solstice.
Almost every ancient civilization has a major celebration at this time, deeply rooted. Many large festivals held the solstice in celebration of making it halfway through the cold darkness. Winter is an extremely difficult part of the year before our modern technological advances and conveniences. In earlier times it took great plan to survive through this long, cold season. At the solstice festival many were on their animals to eat them and to the food store that would have taken to these animals when crops were scarce feed.
They also celebrated the return of light and bring gifts – to give life to nature and spiritual knowledge in the darkness, we become more inward looking and the light is visible in the dark .. that the light power is so obvious, and we can connect with it easier Candles and stars seem brighter in simpler times when people saw the horizon -.. and not much else – they are very aware of the patterns in the air. The winter solstice was known as the day when the sun stands still. While watching the horizon, the sun seems to stop before reversing the direction of the path. Every year the Sun back on the solstice. It is the light at the end of the tunnel, brighter and longer days to follow.
Shaman and many other ancient cultures have long believed that the veils between worlds are thinnest on the winter solstice. They celebrated this moment as an optimal time to naturally see deeper and further into the invisible world – beyond our senses as the veil was lifted, we have the ability to tune to the deepest levels with the largest presence .. Right now they make a conscious attempt to access divine energy of the Masters. It is a direct access to the wisdom which is connected directly to the source. Here, great changes can be made at the level of the soul.
Ideas for a Winter Solstice Celebration
If that is not on the actual day of the solstice (Monday), try this on the weekend before or after:
· Have a wonderful long bath when you wake. Pause for a few moments of silence and stillness. Pray and connect with God, the source, or that you have ever faithful to and considering your Divine Creator. meditate.
· Let the things you treasure most – ceremonies or rituals that feed your heart and sing to you (examples: writing, music, reading, dancing, sports, yoga, etc.)
• Take a few moments to reflect on yourself with the Inner Exploration Exercises at the end of this article.
· Quick or a party – in gratitude.
· Share some time with those who you deeply connect with and love the most.
THE HEART OF THE WINTER
Winter is the darkest and coldest season of the year. Trees are bare. Animals are hibernating. Flowers return to the dirt, ready for birth in the spring. spheres that contain beautiful flowers of spring, can not flower until they invisible internal changes undergone during the cold winter. We are a very similar process, consciously or not.
Our warm clothes and blankets to create a cocoon for our inner transformation work. It is an ideal time to enter! People stay inside by the fire, asked more time at home. The absence of light relies on a natural reduction of energy we are drawn to more rest and sleep Studies show many people (especially women) a higher level of depression in the months where we least light -. between the October and December do not fight it -..!. Collaborating with The Retreat happens for a reason, to recover and restore your energy Come spring, you'll be glad you did.
We burn our houses, prepare gifts for those we love, and eat hot food. Time is spent with family, creating new horizons and help us into a whole review of where we are today – at the end of one year and the dawn of a new one.
This season is the most mysterious philosophical and spiritual of the year. The is a natural time of the celebration of faith. We are often reminded that everything is all good, how awful life gets. We can connect with what we love most, or feel the pain of not loving enough Intuition is a natural peak and creativity peaks Connect with the deepest parts of your mind and creativity -.. development and enable them to fill you.
Inner exploration EXERCISES FOR THE WINTER
Make time and quiet space for such exercises on the winter solstice and during the winter season depth and presence.
Clean all the old and make room for new, inside of you and your sacred spaces. Clearing and releasing the old, broken wells will free up energy and to refresh you on deep levels. It is a time for clearing your slate and completion at all levels so that when spring comes our soil, fresh and processed ready for our new seeds. Go through everything and letting go of the things that no longer serve you. Clean out your desk, you can hardly wear clothes and even friends who can hold you back. Donate items you do not use it enough to those who treasure them, thus freeing up space for you to receive greater things. File, dust and sweep. Make sure all of your rooms sparkling clean and are present in the process. Refine your sacred spaces, rituals, and connections. Revive yourself in them.
As you step into your new year, get refreshed and re- begin.

In this time of completion and mastery, reflect deeply on your actions and the key lessons you've learned the past year. Where are the seeds you planted last spring taken you? How do you grow? What are your greatest achievements this year? How has flourished this year as compared to your intentions? Achievements during this review process can be used later to start planning for the new seeds that you plant during the spring. The seeds of potential are just now beginning to stir.
Take it further and think about how your personal creations and others support the planet at this time. Be honest. you reinforce others, not at all affect whether you are detrimental to their growth? Are you in alignment with your highest potential and live the legacy you want to – right now?
Search for opportunities of growth that you are attracted now. Note, envision them openly, and follow up with action. Integrate the notes in your weekly monitoring of the practices.
This winter enjoy to follow up your last year and thanks in celebration with people you love and treasure Spend quiet time with yourself and – nourishing your inner seeds to get to the core, consider about what you truly want most in life and letting go of things that are no longer serving you.
