Chicago Fashion Designer, Vanessa Walilko of Kali Butterfly
Tres cool. Recyclable, unique and great! Vanessa Waliko's glam one-of-a-kind collection brings futuristic aluminum Chain Maille certainly the future in the now. Kali Metal Butterfly's gowns and accessories are made using thousands of anodized aluminum and anodized aluminum rings and leaves can be up to 200 hours to make. With rock star and celebrity looks, Kali Butterfly line is the most creatively designed metal accessories that I've seen so far.
Emerging talent, Vanessa Walilko, the creative genius behind its brand, Kali Butterfly. Vanessa says: "The Urban Armor series began five years ago as a way of exploring the possibilities within the mediums of beadwork and Chain Maille. I wanted to striking modern designs using ancient jewelry making techniques. "Vanessa also teaches jewelry making in the Chicago area. She says she specializes In the "unexpected".
While growing up as an over-acheiver, Vanessa knew she wanted a designer. But it was only much later (when she had school as a major political science), that she realized that she wanted to make jewelry for a living. So, after graduating from DePaul University with a degree in sociology, and works as a research assistant and later for jewelry designers (where she learned everything she could about the industry), she decided to apply that knowledge to making its own dreams become reality. She says that working with the jewelry designers was like "a specialized MBA program." Using her savings, she worked hard jewelry for a viable business development.
Vanessa credits her grandfather (who was suffering from dementia) and send her to starting her jewelry business. She says that her grandfather told her, with tears in his eyes, "Enjoy every minute of your life, because it's all you get." Vanessa said: "I realized then that and after all the suffering he had seen (he was in work camps during the Second World War), the lesson he wanted to pass it was one of freedom and happiness, then the only way I could see his memory was honored by pursuing my dreams with great passion. "
Vanessa's advice to young designers, "Develop a vision, because there are a lot of people who are able to design for the body, but if you want to be recognized for your design sense, you should be able to an original interpretation of the materials. "She also says:" Do not be afraid to take risks, willing to take a public spectacle of yourself, and do not give up. "
In describing her design philosophy, Vanessa says, "Every woman needs a piece of jewelry that makes them feel like a queen, and I always design documents that idea in the mind. "She says she has fun creating bold, beautiful things that are" least amount of environmental impact. " Her jewelry has an endless aluminum recyclable lifecycle.
Vanessa has won many awards, including Fashion Fever Challenge (a sewing and fashion design competition in the CHA Craft super show in Rosemont). Her Chain Maille jacket also took home second place in the category Wire Work. She is also included in Lapidary Journal Jewelry Artist Magazine.

hey people I know this is a dumb question, but does anyone know any barbie without the big heads?
See the thing is im only 16, I still like Barbie, but I already bought my family a lot of presents but my nephews and nieces. When I walked into Toys R Us in Times Square i didn't really like many of those barbies there for their gigantic heads im not the bratz myscene dolls or im talking about the fashion fever ones. Does anyone know the name of Barbie dolls with the umbilical bodies (I think you know what) and that dont have huge heads, because those dolls really scared me. please answer because I need to go shopping tomorrow until the end of this week, because I like to shop early. k thanks I will also try and buy Bratz dolls and yes I will buy some of the Cali-girl cuz the ones from 2003 – 2005 never rly had big heads, like the fashion fever who are conducting
Sady as Barbie has as its body proportions. I hate it as well. The only dolls I could suggest Barbies would be made before the 2004-2005 is about the time I saw her head growing. I think I know what you mean by "authorities navel" The line I would recommend is the ORIGINAL Cali Girl line. (2005) that he reason I say original, because I worked in a toy store around that time, and in the middle of the Cali-Line, they re-vamped Barbie. Mattel re-released the Cali Girl line and that's when I noticed the big head and feet. You can tell the older Cali Girl Barbie dolls because the dolls are packaged singularly without additional accessories. Also Blaine (Barbie boyfried new) box says Cali Girl – In re the line box said CALI GUY did. Cali Girl newer boxes are wider and come with accessories like ear peircing and such things. Anyways, one of the Barbies made in 2004 and before will be safe. You can order the balance of older Barbies old store in your area, but since you said you Times Square, I'm assuming you live in or near NYC, which has a large poplulation, so finding old hardware store stock. You could also try ebay. Many people Brand new items to sell on eBay. Good Luck! : O)
