When one hears the word witch usually takes our mind green skin old hags float over a large iron kettle filled with black disgusting ingredients, singing a sort of spell and worshiping the devil.
Fairy tales and Hollywood movies are usually responsible for such false propaganda only because the film is exciting.
Witches are usually associated with Halloween. But what are really witches? Let's see …
In short, the term "witch" comes from the word Wicca, or wiccian WICC, which actually already stand for 'wise woman', 'wise women in the plural. There are always people interested in learning the special virtues of medicinal plants, the course of the moon, stars and planets, and many other aspects of nature.
Witches are usually active members of Wicca, an earth-based religion known, but many other people, which can also be called witches, are not followers of this particular religion. The majority of these people practice a mixture of ancient pagan rituals. These rituals are a long time before the advent of Christianity which The origin of the term "witch" and launched the idea that those who lived under the cycles of nature, the Church of Satan worship.
It was the Catholic religion, the concept of Satan or a demon established. Until the Catholic church came on the scene had no idea of Satan or a demon. In reality, the term "pagan" itself stands for "people of the country" – not devil worshipers.
Men can be witches, but the term is more related to women. Hollywood, by the need profitability and probably machismo, has also led people the wrong idea that "sorcerers", the term that determines male witches.
"Warlock" is a term of ridicule and disgust, and was originally used by the pagan people to someone who had betrayed his people and the ways of nature to describe. Actually, the term "Warlock" comes from the Middle English "warloghe", and from the old English "wrloga. The real meaning of these terms is "the one who breaks faith" or "traitor".
It is known that the main occupation of witches to cast spells. The term 'spell' is derived from the Old German word "Spiel" meaning "to pray", or "prayer". Essentially, Christians, Muslims, Buddhists, Hinduists do pray for a certain outcome, and so witches spells for a particular outcome as well. Indeed, the idea is that they are supposed to power the forces of the universe to use to get what they want.
There are instruments used by witches which are considered spells to help them by calling the right atmosphere and mood. These tools are like the actors use costumes and accessories to help them get into character.
While witches are supposed to be angry with a lot of people, the fact is, whether or not someone is good or bad to the individual. Magic is neither black nor white, but just is and how it is used depends on the user.
Finally, witches just like every other follower of a religion are free to do whatever they want as long as it harms no one.
