How to care for your hand painted silk scarf or hand-dyed silk scarf
Because silk is so fine and thin material, many people assume that it's unsustainable and very difficult to arrange. Add the hand-painted decorations to the mix and raised fears that the post would be highly impractical and represent a poor value for money.
Actually, though, hand-painted silk scarves for women, hand painted scarves are easy to care for and make a wonderful addition to any wardrobe lady.
As with any item that is worn on the body, silk scarves and shawls should be regularly cleaned to get rid of stains, the residue of perfumes and air pollutants that can affect the look and feel of the material. Washing not only refreshes the colors, giving them a new life, but also gets get rid of the smells that cling to every type of tissue. Far from shortening the life of the item, keep it in tip-top condition, so your precious and unique scarf or shawl continues provide value for many years. Here are a few quick and easy tips to keep in mind the life of your portable canvas to expand.
1. Hand wash the item. The dry cleaning process use harsh chemicals that not only have a negative effect on the material side, but also the colors and dyes used to create unique designs on your hand-painted or hand-dyed scarf or shawl. Agitation and rapid temperature changes that machine-washed clothing can also be subject to damage to the hand-painted or dyed silk. Washing hands is fast, effective and safe, and of course, cost-efficient. Use tepid or warm water, and always ensure that you or a mild detergent, better yet, a mild baby soap or shampoo. The nature of the material is such that this should be sufficient even to remove stains, but it is important not to rub the material is hard as this may appear worn spots. Ordinary household salt, when added to the solution of soapy water and prevents the colors in the item bleeding, but never, under any circumstances, bleach should be used.
2. Add vinegar during the rinse. Once your silk scarf or shawl is washed, you then need to rinse in clear, cool water, make sure you do not twist in the process. When all the soap has been removed, rinse again, this time a paper towel vinegar add to the water. This will not only neutralize the soap, but it will also adorn the tissue and restoring its natural shine. Finally, rinse again in clear, cold water to remove the vinegar and carefully to ensure that no odor remains.
3. Use clean towels to dry your scarf or shawl. Silk should never be squeezed as This may lead to be stretched and distorted. Instead, put your scarf or shawl flat on a clean, dry towel and then roll it up. This excess water will actually squeeze without any damage. Once this is done, just lay the scarf or shawl on another dry towel and let it air dry.
4. Iron with care. When it comes to iron your silk scarf or shawl, it is always preferable to work on the back of the fabric, but make sure the iron on the lowest position to do so. Alternatively, you use a slightly higher setting, but place the object under a clean cotton cloth or a towel, so it does not come into direct contact with the heat.

What is the history of hand-painted porcelain shafford?
I bought some absolutely gorgeous cups and saucers at auction marked "shafford … hand painted "japan I know they are very old, but can not find any history on the company that made shafford. I would like to date the objects and learn a little about the company. Thanks to anyone who can help.
