- Long boots:

- Protective glass:

Ear infection?
I had quite a nasty ear infection when i was 6…all i really remember about that year was alot of high fevers, alot of pain and alot of deafness. i’m 22 now and hadn’t had a single problem with my ears until last year when i started wearing ear muffs. i got a really sudden acute infection and within hours my eardrum ruptured.
now, exactly a year later, i started wearing a hat and i have another ear infection. going to the doctors tomorrow morning to see about antibiotics (which i haven’t taken since i was 6!). i’m so annoyed!! what the hell is going on with my ears?!
i have to say i more likely have particularly OPEN eustachian tubes…the one thing i notice is that since that ear infection when i was 6, my ears pop quite readily.
an eardrum that ruptures from infection is a sign of Eustachian Tube Dysfunction (ie. in plain terms your ears won’t pop to equalize pressure efficiently).
I am assuming that you are wearing earmuffs to keep warm–meaning your nose might be running outside when it’s cold, too. If you sniff in hard you can suck some of the germs up into the Eustachian Tube where it breeds into infection.
SO….my theory is that it is not your earmuffs, but that the earmuffs are a sign you’re outside in the cold and sniffing to keep your nose from running. Earmuffs don’t create enough suction to cause difficulty themselves, and are actually good to prevent frostbite on your ears.
