Inspirations Barbie
Artists! I do this art project needs war and major inspiration …..?
I want to watch things like anti-war art and conscience of the world wars, some more modern stuff inspired by Vietnam, the Gulf War, Iraq and terrorism. But I want it a little different, I think I might think about how a third World War differ from the other two – any ideas? And maybe think about how male / female roles can be activated in this situation – for example making a "Lieutenant barbie" or something along those lines. I would also like a variety persepecitves about the war and how do ypu think it would affect you / affects you. Cheers.
Hmm interesting. Been a while since my head went int art mode (3.75 GPA but had dropped a few years back is having to juggle a single parent and an art student .. bouncing back and forth between Pato and Playdough daily … too much for a man) I loved exploring the conceptual art, which seems to be what you're trying to do here … So lets see what bubbles out of my brains 
Ok well when I think about war first thing that comes to mind is a quote I heard a time (I do not remember), but basically said that the war was just powerful men fight their battles with the lives of poor people … so I think a board game … such as chess or risk .. but tis not a game .. I think the GI Joe or Barbie as a puppet (maybe with strings like marrionette) with someone else to manipulate, such as toys or pawns. If you are doing and the installation and you want an interactive piece the viewer or maybe you are able to step into the role of pupeteer .. or better yet become the puppet .. or maybe both … hmmm yeah yeah … perhaps a large strings hanging down to a human size puppet marrionete with "the army wants you poster" Invite someone to step to the puppet role ….. I dunno … LOL. Maybe this is something that can somehow be expressed by 2D art too. Good luck with your piece
