Jewel Essence

The essence of management
"Management" is an umbrella that covers a range of activities: leadership, work by others, planning, organizing, communicating, controlling, and decision making, to name a few. How can you understand all these things? Fortunately, you do not need to.
The basis of the actual management tactics activity is to control a situation without enough information, assets, or power to retain that control to justify. That if it happens, is also the essence management.
In some respects, management needs no introduction. Most of us do it one way or another every day in families, social groups, clubs and companies. Management is universal, it exists when two or more people try to do something together. You may not notice this, however, because only mismanagement makes headlines. Aircraft arriving late, companies go bankrupt, lost orders, the Pentagon and defense contractors pay a few hundred dollars for parts that a few dollars Wal-Mart costs because management has somehow failed.
People become managers by different routes. Those working for family businesses inherit the job. Others may have worked their way organization or married to the boss's son or daughter. Be particularly suspicious of people who declare that they are "born manager," however. They can be identified by their total ignorance of the management and their supreme confidence that their every decision is correct. But how can you masquerade as a real manager? Quite simply, it appears often. Few managers take the time to clarify whether their objectives, actions, and analyze motives for what they do. If, on the other hand, spend even a fragment of your day to think about what you actually do, you above the rest of the peloton. Especially if you maintain steady eye contact, dress neatly and act sincerely. In the words of George Burns, "Sincerity everything. If you can fake that, you've made. "
Management activities
Managers perform many activities. It is important for you to understand what each does so you can use goals, assign tasks and delegate authority to them well done.
The main areas of a company's purchasing, production, sales and finance. Service and retail firms, which make no tangible product, still have a core of similar areas (minus production) that are crucial for success. In fact, many people, especially those who now sells insurance services as "products" to make them sound less vague and elusive. Bluffers have the role of a number of key management activities that will help them understand what the major areas of a company successful.
Decision
One of the problems with a manager is that your decisions have from time to time it. This can be very tricky, because decisions can blow up in your face. But you really have to decide? Sometimes not. If you want that a decision to bypass without looking indecisive, you can often fall back on philosophical quotes like "Sometimes the best decision is no decision" and "If it works, do not fix it. "
In any case, do not be intimidated into making a decision until you have thoroughly analyzed the problem.
Most panic decisions deal with symptoms of the problem and see the problem itself. If your car has a flat tire of tomorrow, you could pump it up, but a block or two along the way will probably be flat again. You mistakenly treated the symptom (lack of air), when the actual problem (a hole) went unsolved. Agile bluffers also tend to be subordinates to participate in decision-making. Go down to where the problem and ask your employees, "What do you think is wrong?" Often, after they recovered from the shock be treated as human beings instead of robots, they will tell you exactly what's wrong, because they knew it all along. It's just that the first boss you ever bother to ask you. Follow up the previous question with "What do you think we should do?" This can lead to different solutions that are worth their weight in gold. The end result is that you shifted the burden of defining problems and resolve yourself to everyone in your workgroup. And, if the decision backfires, it will be more comforting to be able to stand up and say, "Well, we thought …" Then having to take all the blame yourself.
Delegate
You must quickly authority for routine decisions delegated to subordinates. Delegation makes you very professional. The saves you time because you only have to wrestle with unusual, off-the-wall problems.
And how should you handle this? Perhaps the best thing you can do is fall back offered the suggestion a moment ago to convene your subordinates and they have to imagine what to do. Stress, of course, you do not give up your authority. You're just a democratic leader who believes in many employee involvement. It can not hurt to point out that the Japanese decision making by consensus and participation, and you're just adopting a tried and true technique. It is difficult for anyone to dispute the success of the Japanese in the automobile industry these days, especially compared with the previous leaders – the big three U.S. car companies especially General Motors (GM).
Communicate
It has been argued that communication is one of the most valuable tricks of the trade management. Getting a simple message about how to use is harder than it looks. People have to define words have conflicting sets of priorities and the harbor hidden agendas that conspire to make communication difficult.
A good rule of thumb is to follow the KISS technique Keep It Simple, Stupid. Another guideline is to reject meaningless jargon. Because people write and speak to impress and inform, they sometimes feel compelled to memos and reports sound "business" to create depth. The result can be a pompous, decipher the mess. If you think you're the target of a verbal Snow Job from subordinates, are yourself by sending a memo or report to be rewritten. This puts people on notice that you a no-nonsense, hard-headed manager who tells it like it is and expects others to to do the same.
Accounting
Accounting is a pretty simple process. It is usually a mix of basic math and common sense. The information, however, is often susceptible to manipulation and multiple interpretations. You can use the advice of former U.S. Supreme Court Justice Robert H. Jackson, who said: "Success depends on knowing what not to believe in the accounts. "
The term "creative accounting" is a euphemism for doctoring the books to a company look better than it is, while the "conservative accounting" makes a company look mediocre or worse. Most companies prefer to look like heroes to the shareholders and bag ladies at the IRS.
As an effective manager, you may face a mass of incomprehensible figures relate to their confusion with phrases like: Do you really believe this is realistic bottom line? Have you checked for a recent FASB (Financial Accounting Standards Board) to hear about this? How much would this change between now and the end of the quarter? And are you sure good allocation of overhead? Perhaps the best comment of all, however, is "You need to simplify this so the board will understand." That means likely you will be able to understand.
It is important to consider the impact of the notes at the end of the accounting reports, since it can reveal situations or circumstances that figures tend to hide. For example, a discreet company admitted that it was so short of money they had borrowed the cash surrender value life insurance policy of its president. Another report celebrated a rise in share price, but the cause of the death of its founder and chairman
He was an autocratic octogenarian well past his first, and investors apparently believed the company was better off without him. Notes may reveal what the figures hide. Catchy slogan is not?
Decision making, delegating, communicating, and Simper a basic understanding of accounting concepts that keep you steadfast in the turbulence of the wetland management especially when you realize that most of your colleagues are incompetent.
In most cases they were encouraged to either personal or family reasons or as a reward for certain behavior or performance that has little to do with the task at hand
Overall, the selection is complete contrary to the long-term health and profitability the company or organization
A management career offers many advantages, most of your colleagues in the field are idiots. Enjoy the "perks" management
