A long history of fashion: The history of Hermes
Hermes (pronounced air junk) name has a long history of excellence and worldwide success. Known for their designer handbags, Hermes included in the fashion world as a saddle maker in 1837. Originally running a harness workshop on the Grands Boulevards area of Paris, Thiery Hermes created a legacy that would extend many generations and almost two centuries.
Soon after its creation, the Hermes House was already a name for himself. In 1855, Hermes earned awards at the Paris Exposition for the first in its class, and later won the First Class Medal of the 1867 Exposition Universelle. So fine, the armor and Hermes dressings that coronations were often delayed for the completion of this equipment.
Around 1880, Charles-Emile Hermes took over the business and moved the shop to a nearby location Palais de I'Elysee at 24 rue Faubourg Saint-Honoré. It was during this time that Hermes was launched in the retail industry, and raising his own sons in the business, Hermes was the Company's most elite suppliers to customers in Europe, North Africa, Russia, Asia and South America. The first hint of the Hermes bag came in the form of a "haut courroies a "bag, allowing riders their saddles with them.
In 1914, Charles Emile retired, handing over the reins of the business to his sons, who renamed Hermes Freres. She had 80 craftsmen at this time, and obtained exclusive rights to use the zipper in their leather goods and clothing. During the '20s, Emile-Maurice remained as sole head of the company. He had an eye to the ever changing future, and added a line of accessories at this time. While nurturing his own sons in the family business, Hermes added a line of leather garments, the first one learn golf zip jacket designed for the Prince of Wales. He was first and foremost a businessman with a mind toward marketing, and in 1956, when the new Princess of Monaco was spotted wearing SAC A despatches of Hermes handbag, he promptly renamed the Kelly bag. The shot of Princess Grace appeared in Life magazine, and by late 1950, the Hermes logo renowned reached status.
The company changed hands again in 1970, when Jean Louis Dumas-Hermes took from his father. He later started an advertising campaign that the discreet name from Hermes to "old men nostalgia" the topic of dreams a young person. • Trim the Shoulder: A favorite of the Onasis Jacqueline Bouvier Hermes handbag is an elegant favorite. It features a simple, single strap with a belt buckle, and an ornate necklace clasp.
• The Birkin: Named after Jane Birkin, the Chanel bag has sturdy double straps, a simplistic lock, and comes in the traditional "envelope" style.
