The Beatles Greatest Psychedelic Tracks
John, Paul, George and Ringo were the greatest rock band ever and they played every kind of music a band play during their time together.
I'm the type of the Beatles fan who appreciates all of their music, but I do have a special appreciation for their more psychedelic songs. And that is what this article involved, the five best psychedelic songs of The Beatles in no particular order.
1. "I Am The Walrus"
Without doubt one of the all time great psychedelic masterpieces. Everything about it from the bizarre acts of imaginative chord changes in the amazing production makes it one of the greatest psychedelic not only songs by The Beatles, but by a band, ever.
This is one of those songs that can be heard numerous times without ever growing tired of it. I know sure I've heard this song close to 1,000 times but I still find it fresh. There's so many layers, so many little twists and turns that I still hear new things, even in the song when I listen to it now.
2. "Strawberry Fields Forever"
I often look at "I Am The Walrus" & "Strawberry Fields Forever "as brothers of sorts. They both have so many great ideas and incredible production. While" Strawberry Fields Forever "is a more introspective "Acid" song, "I Am The Walrus" is a bit of a freak out. "
"Strawberry Fields Forever" is a song that would have been great, even if it were just played on an acoustic guitar, but it was taken to an incredible level by the remarkable production and imaginative scheme.
3. "Lucy in the sky with Diamonds"
I almost mentioned in this song because it's almost a cliché in some ways. But in the end, the number is still large. The vocal effects on the voice of John Lennon's been great. Paul McCartney's bass is fantastic. And as usual the song of the production is incredible.
4. "A Day In The Life"
The last track on Sgt Pepper's is usually seen as a "psychedelic" song at least not like the first three songs I offered, but it is very high. The orchestral build-up is absolutely insane for one thing. Little is certainly much more than that. I personally think this is the largest song of all time, psychedelic or not. It is amazing lyrically and musically deep. The arrangement is one of The Beatles many great musical performance.
5. "Sun King"
This song reminds me a lot of Pink Floyd's The Dark Side of the Moon (which of course was about 4 years after this track on Abbey Road.) I wonder sometimes off as David Gilmour, the guitarist of Pink Floyd, was influenced by this song. They certainly heard.
Usually I refer to the very fluid sound of the guitars.
The "ahh ahh" bits are very Beatles and very psychedelic.
