Rainbow Brite
Premise
In the backstory of the franchise, a little orphan girl named Wisp is taken by an unknown force to the colorless world. They should find the atmosphere of the Light, but after doing this, she befriends a sprite, Twink, and a majestic white horse known as Starlite. She rescues the seven colors Kids (one for each color of the rainbow) and finds the Color Belt, which is the tools they need to bring color to the country. After using it to the King of Shadows (also known as the evil force of the Dark One) to defeat an evil hooded being with nervous fingers, the unknown force renames Wisp as Rainbow Brite. She and the Color Kids (and their helpers, the Sprites) live in Rainbow Country and responsible for all the colors on Earth.
The Color Belt needs colored Star Sprinkles to work. Each Color Kid is responsible for his / her own color, and their Sprites mine crystal color from the Color Caves, which turned into Star Sprinkles by a process much like using cookie cutters. In the 2009 release, the color band is still functioning, Rainbow Sky Brite and the other powers also scepters.
The movie Rainbow Brite and the Star Stealer, made in 1985, added a magical planet of light named Spectra, which is called the diamond planet. All light in the universe, through Spectra before coming to Earth. The Dark Princess causes problems when she tries to wrap ropes around Spectra (in the for deportation of the giant diamond to her palace), which blocks the light and throws earth into a permanent winter.
Characters
Rainbow Brite and the Color Kids, the "Fire New Day "song from the movie Star Stealer
Rainbow Brite (originally called Wisp before name) and her white sprite Twink. In one of the books, it is revealed that former Twink red, to villain Murky Dismal threw him into the pits, who leaked his colors.
Starlite Rainbow Brite is talking, flying horse, which calls itself "the most beautiful horse in the universe. "He is white with a yellow star on his forehead, and his mane and tail are iridescent.
Color Kids
The names of the head of each color's Kid Sprite is in parentheses, although several more named Sprites exist. Except where noted, each Sprite is the color of the Color Kid he or she belongs. Sprites all look identical except for their colors, and in some cases, antennas. Regular Star Sprites are antennas.

Brand that some sprites different names in different regions and languages. For example in the United Kingdom in the 1980 line, OJ's name is saucy, and in Spain and Mexico, Sassy. In the UK, Hammy the name of Encore. There are also many other named and unnamed in the cartoon sprites and books.
Special Kids
Although often lumped together with Color Kids, there are a few residents of Rainbow Land which is not much with color. In the 2009 release, and Tickled Pink Moonglow Rainbow Brite as close to heaven Powers.
Stormy
Together with her non-speaking horse Skydancer, Stormy lives in the clouds and is charged with storms, rain, and in winter (her favorite season). Stormy does not seem to have a sprite, but in the episode "Invasion of Rainbow Land, a limited sprite that match the color of her outfit follows her around (perhaps a sprite indigo or violet). Skydancer is dark purple with light purple hair, with a thunderbolt on his / her head. Skydancer gender is never revealed, and unlike Starlite, Skydancer has ability to fly unaided. In the pre-production phase, Skydancer was called "Thunder", shown in the captions for the Star Stealer press kit.
Tickled Pink
She appeared in the later episodes, and the film. It is questionable whether Tickled Pink is charged with only the color pink, or in the hotel, all pastel shades. Her outfit is the only next Rainbow Brite that has multiple colors, not just different shades of the same color. In the year 1980 merchandise line has a pink sprite named Dee Lite, but Tickled Pink any evidence that a sprite. In 2004 merchandise line of Toy Play, coloring book and it gives the female sprites are responsible for the tertiary colors like aqua and magenta. In the 2009 release Tickled Pink is responsible for the sunrise and sunset, one sprite is called Twilite and Sunriser is her horse.
Moonglow
Together with her navy blue Sprite called Nite Sprite (which has crescent moons at the tips of his antennas instead of stars like the other Rainbow Land Sprites). Moonglow is responsible for making the night sky bright with stars and color. She appears in episodes produced after the movie. Note: The spelling of the merchandise doll has her name spelled as "Moonglow", but the TV series has reported as Moonglo. Both spellings can be considered correct, but Hallmark has made clear that "Moonglow" is their official spelling. In line 2009, her horse is Shimmer.
Friends
Baby Brite
She was named this in the merchandise line, and appears only in the beginning of Rainbow Land, where it is called "The baby". She has pink hair and is the form that takes the sphere of light in the dark country. Rainbow Brite finds her, and because it goes into a cave to get out of the rain, which leads her to find the Color Belt.
Sunriser
Sunriser is a pink, non-speaking horse introduced in the episode "Horse of a different color." She has a white heart on her forehead, and resembles a crush on Starlite. She is very shy at first and will not allow anyone to ride her except Rainbow Brite. The Sprites gave her the name "Sunriser" since it came out in the early morning to watch the Starlite. In the cartoon series, has Sunriser not belong to anyone and just let her ride Rainbow Brite time. However, the merchandise Tickled Pink boxes show Sunriser away and say, "fun-loving horse Tickled Pink." In the 2009 release, the hair is pink with yellow-gold highlights and white heart on her forehead has turned into a golden Sun
Shimmer
Shimmer not exist in the 1980 line, but was created for the 2009 release. Moon Glow Shimmer is the horse. She is light blue with pink, blue and purple hair, purple and a silver moon on her forehead.
Krys
Meet in the film and later appear on the show, Krys is a resident of Spectra. He is bigger than Rainbow Brite and the Color Kids. He wears a helmet and space helps Rainbow Brite defeat the Dark Princess. He uses a small wrist-mounted prism that is powered by Rainbow Rainbow Brite's. It usually works by creating a crystal (possibly ice) around its target, but apparently also make metal objects such as swords, very hot, and they disappear.
Orin
Also appear in the film, Orin is an old white sprite Spectra. His origin is clear from the bulbs at the ends of its antennae, all Spectran Sprites have. The sprites Rainbow Land've always thought he was real, while the color kids believed him only a legend.
On-X
Pronounced "Onyx" He is black Orin robot horse. His red mane glows when he talks, and blue rays from his feet for him to fly. He can save a message for someone who can be found by pressing the button on his chest. (At the end of the Star Stealer movie, Orin gives Krys On-X.)
Brian
The only guy on earth who can see Rainbow Brite. After school one day he accidentally runs into a rainbow Rainbow Brite had sent him to cheer. This makes him many colors, and Rainbow Brite takes him to Rainbow Land to remove them. He gets a special key, as they each slot, forming a rainbow that he can ride to Rainbow Land. Brian has a dog named Sam (this information can be found in the Rainbow Book brite Treasury) only as "Boy" in the TV series.
Puppy Brite & Kitty Brite
Rainbow Brite's pets. Puppy Brite makes a cameo at the beginning of Star Stealer and appears in one episode after the movie. Kitty Brite appears only in episodes produced after the movie. Puppy Brite exists in the 2009 release.
Sprites Rainbow Country
Sprites who live in Rainbow Country and mine crystal color from the Color Caves. They also carry out other tasks for the Color Kids, such as processing of Color Crystals Star Sprinkles, storage and carting them. They speak their own language, Rainbow Brite and the Color Kids can understand. They come in all colors of the rainbow and the stars at the ends of their antennas.
Spectran Sprites
Spectran Sprites Sprites with a soft, fluffy paws that live on Spectra and keep it shiny and polished. Spectran Sprites are balls on the ends their antennae, unlike the stars that sprites Rainbow Land to them, and goggles to protect their eyes. They also seem to be only pale (almost white) colors like light blue and light pink. The three most frequently mentioned are sprites Spectra Orin, bombo and Popo.
Rogues
Murky Dismal
Turbidity is the main villain from the pits. In the episode "Mom" has proven that if a toddler, he colored the walls with crayons, markers, paint, rollers, and finally an industrial airbrush. His mother made him wash "every bit of color, if it takes all day, as it takes the rest of your life," lead Murky to his hatred of the color as a adult. He loves to invent devices gloom clouds color removal and make people desperate to make. He is constantly trying to catch Color or Rainbow Brite's Kids Color Belt take. His full name is Murkwell.
Lurky
Murky's sidekick who looks like a giant brown Sprite with a big nose. Lurky actually delights in "all the pretty colors!" and dreams of one day riding a horse as Starlite. Lurky is generally good-hearted and often Murky foils plans by his clumsy nature. He driving their vehicle, a dirty go-kart called the Grunge Buggy, while Murky rides shotgun in a trash can strapped to the side.
The Princess Dark
She's only officially called "The Princess." She lives in a palace in space and, as the eponymous movie Star Stealer, tries to steal the diamond planet Spectra. She carries around an emerald they speaks like a dog. She is very spoiled and greedy, even going so far as to Rainbow Brite's Color Belt steal after witnessing its power (though they never used it himself). She has a magic jewel that is the source of her strength, destroyed by the end of Rainbow Brite Star Stealer.
Count Blogg
A green monster, the Dark Princess' right. When he appears in the TV series that he claims to have the power to change people into frogs.
Sgt. Zombo
The sergeant in charge of Prison Planet, where the Dark Princess sends her enemies. He has turned into crystal prisms by Krys' beam.
Glitter Bots
Giant robots that gold Spectran Sprites tying ropes to hypnotize Spectra around in preparation for the claim of the princess' of the planet for themselves.
Monstromurk
A malicious entity could best be described as living a storm cloud, with the ability to destroy color. He was trapped in a glass bottle, like a spirit through Murky Dismal and kept there for over 700 years. Murky sought him the control and use of his powers against Rainbow Brite and the Color Kids, until he was accidentally freed by Lurky. He made havoc in Rainbow land, until caught and recaptured by Rainbow Brite.
Other minor characters
Mrs. Dismal
Murky's mother, who does not like dark colors that hatred, and end with the help of Rainbow Brite. In one episode she appeared in, Mom, it was revealed that as a child when Murky all colored on the wall, she made him erase the colors.
Wajah
A multilingual foreigner that crashes in Rainbow Land. His kind of uses as a food color, so Rainbow Brite and the Color Kids adopt his ship as quickly as possible to prevent him from "eating" all color in Rainbow Land.
Plock
A seller who Twink sneaky tricks in selling him the Color Caves in exchange for a "magic seed." Once he realizes how the world would be like without color, he changes his ways and gives the caves back to Rainbow Brite.
Sorell
A wizard makes Murky's Comet to try and destroy the Color Caves.

In the year 1980, Mattel produced the majority of Rainbow Brite dolls and merchandise. The 2004 master toy licensee Toy and Games Nick Jr. was the TV station that advertised Rainbow Brite products. Since 2008, the master toy licensee Playmates Toys is one and released their first line of Rainbow Brite toys in January 2010.
The 2004 18 "Talking Rainbow Brite doll toys produced by names the colors of the rainbow but green leaves. At contact, Toy Play indicated that the doll would be adopted for all future production runs, but there were no future production runs from Toy Play.
