Get a record deal – for mixing and mastering the production of
Get a record deal – You do not have in the previous five articles to read in this series, what is a working band to do? To benefit from reading this. It may be that you had already recorded your demo and does not need the other independent artist, it could just be that you are interested in the process.
Somehow or another – in a process that love, luck and much hard work combines – You have a number of independent artist songs recorded demo for your band. Now, the little matter in marketing, but not In this production step, or it was a recording of a live show or a set of songs in a studio.
At this point, the question to be answered, the decision must be asked is: Is the mix tape ready to master? Mastering is the final step before production, and it must be done professionally, at a cost (for three numbers), of somewhere between $ 100-500. It is not a good idea for the recording / mixing engineer to master the CD, nor is it wise to do some amateur. Because it can cost as much as all your studio time, it is an important decision that you can not afford to be wrong – or, for that matter, just more than once.

Another series of books, of course, could be written on all things that may could be wrong with the music or the recording of them, but only to focus on sound quality and presence by your favorite CDs, and when you reach 85-90% of these levels, I You done good. Mastering is the final step before signal an audio CD was produced. There is a tendency in the last few decades to the life and dynamic compression of rock and pop music, so your CD is as hard as the other boys or girls. This is not so prevalent in jazz and classical music as it is in, say, hip-hop and heavy metal, and not just because to do so. If your music has dynamic range – in other words, if it has some quieter, some less orchestrated them some space, and some subtle – Ask the mastering engineer take it easy on slamming.
What you should have after handing his check of the mastering engineer is a high-end CD-R with your tracks written for the 16-bit, 44.1 kHz, Redbook Audio standard. This disk is also called a PMCD (pre-master CD), and it is what a manufacturer will use the CD glass master used to make replication. If you want to back it up or keep the original safely deliver a copy for the manufacture, remember that you must drive, no copy of the tracks, the whole disk to be cloned, because all major Redbook index file must be a specific location on the disk for it to work.
