Repaint dolls?
Someone knows the product "after removal" and where I can find? This product is used to remove the paint on Barbie face when you make a OOAK repaint doll.
Hi – I'm an old pop artist who is very careful about these things. My advice is to save your money. Faith me, pure acetone is fine. After removal is a chemical called butyrolactone that is every bit as toxic as acetone. I know some people assume it is safer because it "Acetone-free", but I have a number of detailed studies on this. The only real advantage of After the removal is that they can brag they are "acetone free" … by an equally strong butyrolactone in their formula instead of acetone. The two chemicals are very similar. And their secondary ingredients useful only for use on fingernails. Once removed the other ingredients in vitamin E, aloe, Calcium, poisoning deterrent, fragrance and dyes. There is no way for one of these ingredients are needed to remove paint from the vinyl. If anything, it the issue of lingering trace of possible product in the vinyl. I would just use straight acetone out if possible to avoid contact and smoke cotton pads. Work quickly without rubbing excessively hard, and rinse and dry the doll very well afterwards. Your doll will be fine. And you certainly acetone in a safe rather stay away from heat, sun, children and pets. Large quantities are cheapest in cans at the hardware store. Save your money for a good quality paint and brushes.
