Paris Fashion Week Spring 2011 Collections and the New British Fashion Dictionary
Spring 2011 ready-to-wear collections are well and truly underway here in Paris during one of the most exciting times of the year. Not only is the fall my favorite time of year but it's Paris Fashion Week, a very exciting, inspiring time in Paris.
The streets are filled with fashionistas and style and elegance that they bring to the city, it feels as though there are camera crews on every corner of Paris and everyone dressed in their Sunday best perhaps in the hope the designers who have flocked here to inspire.
The thought of Jean-Paul Gaultier, Vivienne Westwood and TheDressingGown.com all share the same city at the exact moment is almost unbearable. No sightings yet but we'll keep you posted!
The word on the street for the spring 2011 collections is 'moderation' – in nice clothes to tease the eye with a "less is more" mentality, less nudity, in substance, that is. We believe that TheDressingGown.com We naturally fear the trend and in line with our latest collections of fabrics and floaty especially not compromised on the length or cut!
Meanwhile, several the other side of the Channel, a British department store Debenhams has a new dictionary to help shoppers understand the latest clothing conditions.
Debenhams have this unusual step because they have found that no one understands the plethora of new names and expressions that have recently emerged from the fashion industry.
The dictionary will translate phrases like fashion …..
Cardigown (Vest / gown) Cardigan, usually long and as a dressing gown belt
Shacket (Shirt / Jacket) Jacket of the shirt like appearance.
Treggings (Pants / Leggings) Leggings of the pants, and appearance.
Jeggings (Jean / Leggings) Jean Leggings like qualities.
Coatigan (Coat / Vest) Vest in a coat look.
Skorts (skirt / shorts) trousers with the look of a skirt culottes ie.
Mandles (man – sandals) sandals for men.
Mackets (Mac / coat), a cross between a Mac and a jacket.
Shoots (shoe / boots) not really a a shoe or boot, but something in between.
Meggings (male commitment) very tight jersey trousers for men.
Mace (male side)
Mankinis (Male / bikini) skimpy swimwear for men defended by Borat.
Jombats (Jegging / contests) tight battles jegging quality.
Tankini (Tank / bikini) cross between a bikini and a tank top for a more modest swim option.
Skousers (Skirt / pants) pants with a skirt attached.
Flap (Blouse / skirt) all in a blouse and skirt combo.
Jardigan (jacket / vest), a thick coat and vest that no layer is required.
Whorts (winter shorts) thick, often based wool shorts, usually worn with tights in winter.
Mubes (Maxi tube dress
Debenhams We applaud their efforts, we appreciate that words like 'whorts', 'jombats' and 'mackets' can be spoken in some circles. However, on TheDressingGown.com we are not convinced that these conditions do not really have to have staying. One can not imagine "skousers', 'whorts' or' meggings' ever crossing from the lips of Karl Laggerfeld for example and you'll be glad to know that you do not mankinis or shoots at our Web site!
