Capodimonte Porcelain
Capodimonte porcelain, sometimes written as Capo di Monte porcelain or Capo-di-Monte porcelain factory was named after the location in the Capodimonte Forests near Naples.The Italian translates "Mount head" or maybe "top of the mountain".
Capodimonte porcelain developed as yet another manifestation the thirst of the European nobility of this material, first successfully copied from the original Chinese in the early eighteenth century Meissen in Saxony (now Germany). This hard-paste porcelain requires an abundant supply of kaolin, first discovered near Meissen, and later near Sevres in France and around the province and Paola Fuscaldo Catanzaro Naples (Sicily).
As was the case outside Saxony, Capodimonte porcelain originally made of soft-paste porcelain. The location of Capodimonte porcelain production moved in the 18th century due to the history of the marriages of European royalty. Charles de Bourbon was the son of Philip V of Spain, but he ascended to the Neapolitan throne as Charles VII in 1734. Charles married the granddaughter of Saxon ruler Augustus II, under whose patronage the original porcelain works at Meissen were built. Charles had a good reason to be inspired to Capodimonte porcelain manufacture on the island of Sicily, where he settled in Naples. So, Capodimonte porcelain came into production, partly thanks to the work of Giovanni Caselli and Livio Schepers, who recruited from the King of Naples Mint. The King gave the famous Capodimonte Mark.
As musical thrones would have, Charles later succeeded to the Spanish throne and became Charles III of Spain. As part of the transition, Charles saw to it that all aspects of Capodimonte porcelain production were moved to a new plant Buen Retiro near Madrid. All aspects were still in Naples zealous if not destroyed, leaving an incentive for copycats to Sicilian production are maintained.
In another historical irony, Charles's son, Ferdinand, returned to Naples in 1759 as Ferdinand IV, King of Naples. Sharing his father's passion for porcelain, he built a new Capodimonte porcelain factory at the royal villa at Portici. Capodimonte porcelain was re-named Italian-based.
Perhaps in a spirit of competitiveness, Ferdinand assembled master training, which would lead to excessive work as a gift for his father in Spain. Exceptional sets were also presented to other rulers as George III of England in 1785.
At the end of the 18th century, Naples shared the fate of most of Europe in the coming under the control of Napoleon Bonaparte. Despite King's flight to other regions, director Domenico Venuti tried to preserve the Capodimonte works in the face of the French invasion. Alas, his efforts were mostly unsuccessful.
With the completion of the Napoleonic influence, Ferdinand was again able to return, which attempts to Capodimonte porcelain to restore its former glory. However, by 1816 Capodimonte porcelain works had fallen to the point where the elements of production were sold and otherwise disappeared. Most historians mark this point as the effective end of more than 60 years Capodimonte porcelain production. Masters and others had made lasting and Tagliolini known products in that period.
The name Capodimonte porcelain, which is so popular and is associated with this great work, not surprisingly resurrected in subsequent years. Again due to a closely related European nobility, Capodimonte is now mainly marketed by a British company, stating that the works are still Italian origin … from leading Italian porcelain manufacturers. "

Hoow much of this porcelain doll worth?
Does anyone know how much my porcelain doll worth? It is approximately 31cm tall and wearing a long white dress with a pair roses around. on the label inside the dress says it movitex. the hands, arms and legs and head is all porcelain. The body is made of foam or cotton type of material. It is also comes with a box. and the doll itself looks quite old doll. Thank: you. Probably not much. It looks like it was made in the past 30 years, and I can not find any info on Movitex as a vintage doll maker.
