Company Overview
Princess Auto Ltd (PAL) is a Canadian retailer with its Ministry of Interior is based in Winnipeg, Manitoba. As of 2009, the Company owns and operates 32 retail coast to coast. To support the two Retail Distribution Centers are located in Winnipeg, Manitoba and Milton, Ontario. Princess Auto also offers online sales and a National Mail Order Service and operates a manufacturing division in Winnipeg.
Princess Auto Manufacturing (PAM) builds hydraulic cylinders and assembles items such as air compressors, chemical sprays and log splitters that are distributed and sold through its retail locations. The Manufacturing Division also makes products for customers in the Original Equipment Market (OEM), including the Canadian military and Zamboni.
Store Brands
There are several items that are specific made for and sold only by Princess Auto. Princess automatic signature line of hand tools and hobby tools are sold under the trade name Power Fist. Power Fist Tools manufactured in developing countries like China and were not originally constructed under a very strict quality control program such as a higher quality tools, which were run contributes to their low cost. Recent developments in the Fist Power Tool line resulted in higher product quality and standards. The company has been a shift in product focus and is now offering national brands such as Hitachi, Dewalt, Milwaukee and Bosch Power Fist to supplement the product line. Shur-Lift is the brand name used by Princess Automotive Manufacturing for its line of hydraulic cylinders. Princess Auto is the only Canadian dealer for BLB hydraulic products, hydraulic valve and accessory company based in Italy.

History
In 1942, a truck driver Winnipeg reluctantly sold his 3 ton truck. He was destroyed in a car shop on Princess Street and was told he could buy the company for the price of his truck.
The truck driver was the owner of a company, and that was how Mr. Harvey Tallman Princess Auto Wrecking purchased. Soon, workers were hired, they removed items from cars and parts sold to the local garages. This is the origin of the name of the company. These days, Princess Auto has little to do with car parts.
When World War II ended, many military equipment items were available. Princess Auto has grown into the buying and selling these items. The purchase of a surplus hydraulic cylinders resulted in the production of trucks hoists. A good buy on aircraft tires has led to the production cars. The Company gradually expanded into the production of agricultural and industrial machinery.
When Japan was perched on a friendly, industrial country to become a nation ready and willing to sell its products, saw another opportunity Princess Auto, the purchase of goods Japan and the marketing of these goods in Canada.
By far the largest number of purchased items came from the U.S.. Many buying trips to the United States has thousands of articles now on sale at Princess Auto. All of these were included in a catalog. These catalogs were sent to every province in Canada.
Harvey Tallman retired in 1976. His sons, Larry and Bob, began a new period of expansion. This expansion began with the first store opened in 1977 in Edmonton, Alberta.
In 1979, demand for Princess Auto manufactured products had grown so much a new plant next to the Home Office building in Winnipeg. The plant remains an integral part of operations.
When Larry Tallman retirement in 1989, Bob Tallman took as president of the company.
In 2005, Bob Tallman was the sole owner of Princess Auto Ltd through the purchase of all shares in the company his brothers and sisters.
In 2007, Bob Tallman announced that he would be stepping down as CEO of the company, remaining as chairman and sole owner of the company. Chief Financial Officer and Chairman Harold Moe Romanychyn Claude were appointed as the new o-CEO of Princess Auto.
In 2008, Co-CEO and Chairman Moe Claude left the company, Bob Tallman was once again the company's CEO, sharing the role with Harold Romanychyn. Romanychyn acts as financial director and Tallman focuses on marketing and communication.
In 2009 Mark Breslauer, Senior Vice President – Marketing and Retail Operations and Paul Smith, Senior Vice President of Supply Chain Management joined the executive team.
In January 2010 Brendon Boland has been appointed CFO, COO and owner, Harold Romanychyn Bob Tallman remains CEO.

During the feudal period in Japan, what were the children of a daimyo called? I am impressed that the title The prince and princess was reserved for the children of the emperor, but it looks like the children of an unknown person, as a daimyo could have a sort of title as well. Any ideas?
It was a time when not all children could make in adulthood, so the daimyo had insurance in the form of begetting many children. This included the official practice concubines. Now, the daimyo would have only one wife. Her male children would be the first in line of succession. The heir, usually the eldest male child of the woman would be named or chakushi chakunan. Actually chakushi chakunan and heir to translate into English. But when the daimyo would be called Tono, the heir could called Waka-tono. The concubine's children were named Shoshi, Shoshi and male were often severely discriminated chakushi. That was true for the obvious heir seeds of mutiny in order to suppress domestic make. Shoshi but men were still significant security, as it was not uncommon for female male children all out die, leaving only one man Shoshi together for the household. It was very important for a daimyo to a male child, for without an heir of the household, whole area was seized by the shogunate, and all the vassals would ronin. So when a daimyo had only daughters, he had to marry someone in the family, adopted heir. When a daimyo had no children, he still had a son as heir down. Despite these many important to the heir, or maybe because everyone except the heir was only insurance, there really is not a general expression for the generic child of a daimyo. Female children easier, if they can all be called hime. But that's because hime has a more general reference as any daughter of a high class (but never for any of the bourgeois class).
