Puerto Rico is an island nation which is officially a territory of the United States. Puerto Rican cuisine has evolved from a number strong influences including that of the original peoples, such as the Tainos and the Spanish conquerors that drove most of the natives and enslaved the remaining. African and Caribbean influence is also reflected in the cuisine of the island, which is also significantly shaped by its climate and geology.

Cocina criolla, one of the main culinary styles, especially on the island has deep roots, reaching far back to the original Tainos and Arawaks. Their culinary traditions are based tropical fruits, native vegetables, fish, and corn. The Spanish were numerous other ingredients that an extension of the Creole style. These include olive oil, rice, wheat and meat, including pork and beef. African peoples as slaves were imported to work on sugar cane plantations, their culinary traditions root as well, and their contributions, which included taro and okra, became assimilated in the whole of Creole cuisine.

Many of the main island of the dishes are seasoned with adobo and sofrito, spice mixtures that tastes that the island is famous for give. Adobo, which can vary from cook to cook, or if bought prepared, the manufacturer of the manufacturer, generally consists of black peppercorns, oregano, salt, garlic, olive oil and lime juice. When bought prepared in powder form, most are salt, garlic powder, citric acid, pepper, oregano, turmeric and MSG, which is a good reason to spend a little time making your own if experimenting with Puerto Rican home cooking. Although generally used for seasoning meat, is considered a kind of all-purpose seasoning mixture.

A pot dishes, or stews, are common to Puerto Rican cuisine. These are often made of meat, and seasoned with a variety of spices and ingredients In addition to adobo and sofrito. Among these are Spanish olives stuffed with pimento, sweet peppers, capers, potatoes, onions, garlic, cilantro, raisins and occasionally.

Chicken with rice is a dish that has become a Puerto Rican specialty, with many families having their own special style, handed down from generation to generation. Chicken is one of the most important ingredient of many criolla dishes, and dishes, while attention is paid to herbal techniques, rarely are they what could be called strongly seasoned.

Of course, seafood is an important part of the island kitchen. Fried fish is often served with a special sauce made of olives, olive oil, onions, Pimientos, capers, tomato sauce, vinegar, garlic and bay leaves. Fried, steamed or grilled fish is lightly seasoned, if at all, during the cooking process and served with a dash lime juice with perhaps a hint of garlic.

Puerto Rican cuisine has many facets, arising from the island on the long and complex history. The blend of native culinary traditions with those of the European colonists and African slaves of the population that they took with them has resulted in a unique and tasty cuisine that is loved by many.

Unfortunately I do not know the flag. But I could paint on a paper or something. I am a male teenager goes Masked for a theme, things begin first letter of your name and mine is P and I could try Puerto Rican. What can I wear a variety of clothes to look like this? The flag was a must, but I do not have a substance. Any ideas?
