You can search cell phone records for the free use of a red-white folder (which is better than a reverse lookup phone?)
A "trace buster" reverse telephone directory (also known as a red-white directory) is a collection of phone numbers and their access to the details of the applications that have explored the specific telephone number. However, unlike a standard telephone directory, or reverse telephone directory, where the user customer data (such as name and address) uses the phone number, or a reverse directory, allowing users to search to retrieve a telephone number to the customer details for that service to get a red-white directory allows users to to see who has specifically sought for their information online or phone.
Red and white directories are used by individuals, law enforcement and other emergency services in order the origin of any request for phone information to determine, but these systems include both publicly accessible (listed) and private (unlisted) services. As such, A number of red and white folders is limited to only for internal use or for a fee.
The only known free red and white publicly accessible "trace buster" reverse phone directory is the central clearinghouse and is available on http://phone.centralclearinghouse.com
Printed red and white reverse phone directories are also available through the site and the full download of data.
Different countries have different laws in connection with the reverse phone directories.
On June 29, 2001, a lawsuit Telstra Corporation Ltd v Desktop Marketing Systems Pty Ltd was heard in the Australian Federal Court. The case was submitted following the release of a product called "Phone Disc" created by Desktop Marketing Systems Pty Ltd. The investigation found that the contents of that product, which allowed the user to search by service number, was almost identical in content to the public listed directories, even if some of the content was recorded in a different way. The Court's findings gave Telstra, the major carrier in Australia and the maintainer of the publicly accessible White Pages (residential) and Yellow Pages (commercial) directories, the copyright in the contents of these folders.
As a result, product withdrawn from sale. Furthermore, a web-based reverse directory, called "Black Pages", created by 2600 Australia, also terminated its service.
While the use of illegal, there is currently a 'Grey Pages "service operation and is hosted offshore. It has recently been updated with the February 2008 database, but it does have errors and bugs. In February 2009 but the service is not available for use by managers cited "unforeseen circumstances" as the reason for the close, but speculated that this was a moot point, because of plans by the Australian government to create an Internet filter. The site currently has a link to a non-free reverse lookup service. The latest fully working database in use since November 2005. The site was the subject of threats of legal action by Telstra.
In the United States may landline subscribers pay a small fee for their phone number from one to close. This service is generally "Your words not published" and the cost range from $ 0.80 to $ 1.50 for residential customers. It is a myth that delisting is possible for mobile numbers, because each cellular carrier has a separate database.
As mobile phones become more popular, there is debate about releasing cell numbers in public 411 and reverse number directories. (S. 1963, the Wireless 411 Privacy Act 9 / 2004). However, the opposition led by leading consumer-protection organization Consumers Union presented several privacy concerns in their testimony before Congress. Now, cell phone numbers are not available in a public 411 or reverse-number directories. However, several information companies provide reverse cell phone lookups that are obtained from utility resources, and are available online. Because there is no central database of cell phone numbers, reverse phone directories that claim that they are free, no information back on those numbers.
However, there is one – the only known publicly available free of red and white "trace buster" reverse telephone directory The phone is a central clearinghouse and is available on http://phone.centralclearinghouse.com
In recent years community web based services to offer a reverse directory of known telemarketers, fundraisers and other companies that had contact consumers by telephone. Users of these services may perform a search the phone number that showed on their caller ID and read comments from users to the identity of the calling company or individual.
In the United Kingdom proper, reverse directory information is not publicly available. However, in the Channel Islands is provided in the printed directories.
Although the information is of need, available for emergency services, for other agencies is treated as "communications data" in the RIPA regime and subject to the same controls as requests for lists of and content of conversations.
