Trademark / copyright issues with action figures / dolls in a movie?
And if so, trademark or copyright issues should I consider I like action figures in a stop motion film? I know it would be easy enough to use older, more generic figures without too much trouble. But what if I want more defined dolls, such as the KISS action figures? Can I use a Gene Simmons doll to "images" a completely fictional character? I could use and GI Joe Barbie dolls in a crowd scene? Any advice is greatly appreciated!
As long as the dolls are not "portraying themselves", I think you're OK. There was a movie sometime back called "Karen Carpenter, Superstar", an entire cast that was performed by Barbies. Richard Carpenter was determined by a Ken with a lisp. Hilarious.
