Maintaining Your Vinyl Siding and Windows
Cleaning and care of your vinyl replacement windows is a simple procedure that can keep your windows with a permanent new look.
If you find any tape or label on your window that did not quite come off using an alcohol-based glass cleaner on small areas only. When finished to remove make sure you soak the glass and rinse with plain water.
Ammonia-based glass cleaners or regular glass cleaners can be used to the glass cleaning.
Refrain from using solvents, strippers or sharp objects to your windows and doors clean. PVC (vinyl) products should be cleaned with water and mild soap.
In the case of heavier cleaning is necessary not commercially advertised abrasive cleaners.
Do you have window condensation on the inside your window, try to check overall humidity in your home. It is your responsibility and has nothing to do with the quality of the window. The only time the manufacturer responsible must be visible when the condensation between the panes. This is a good indicator that the seal is broken and the glass pack should be replaced.
Mildew can be a problem when the humidity is too high for a long period of time and should be removed with an appropriate cleaner or mildew controller that can be obtained at your local store.
PVC windows are solid color in painting and varnishing to make a thing of the past. In mind by doing so you will probably void your warranty.
Also remember that the tracks of sliding doors and double hung windows are exposed to the outside environment, which can leave abrasive elements such as dirt, leaves, sand, grease, grime, etc. in them. If not removed can lead to an olive grove in the vinyl tracks for use. It is recommended to keep them clean half yearly. Use a small, hard Nylon brush for cleaning a soft cloth and them down. If necessary, use of silicone spray lubricant on the track of the sliding shoe and the balance trace of a double suspension vinyl window. This will keep the operation of the vinyl window smoothly without leaving oily residues that tends to collect more abrasive elements.
Do's and Don'ts for your vinyl windows
Do's to know about vinyl windows:
• Ask open the top and bottom window for better ventilation.
• Have both hands to open the account when the tilt inwards for cleaning
• Always use support the active window when tilted in the cleaning position
• Use make sure the tilt latches are fully engaged after you've finished cleaning the window and bring its original position.
• Make sure you have your top window (double-hung) moved all the way up before you lock your window.
Don'ts about vinyl windows:
• Do not forget to leave your lock in the open position until your windows are closed and ready to be locked. Leaving the lock in the locked position while the window is open can damage the keeper when you try to close it.
• Do not attempt to remove the windows on a double-hung Vinyl Window
• Do not use WD40 or other oil-based lubricants, they only attract dirt. Silicon spray to be used for lubrication.
• Use the center part of a Swing & Clean sliding vinyl window not leave without the right support or you risk damaging the functionality of your window.
• Try not to move a sliding window sash of Swing & Clean as the spindle is locked hardware.
• Do not use abrasive cleaners that the vinyl or the glass of the windows clean
• Do not use solvents to clean the windows
• Do not forget to unlock your open windows before the crank to open them
• Do not use high pressure hose on the outside of a vinyl window clean
• Do not forget to add the necessary support to your vinyl window when installing a window air conditioning unit
• Do not paint or varnish vinyl windows! This will void your warranty
