Some hats can be made of materials that a different approach than others will require. While some may washable hats, there are others that are dry, clean only.
If you have a leather hat, you need a special detergent to clean it. Straw hats can be cleaned with a mild detergent and some water. Soft felt hats may have brushed and wiped with a damp towel. If you want to keep the edge of your great-looking hat, you need to store your hat on its head. Also you must remember that a good hat can be a bit to shrink over time, so you may need to occasionally stretch.
