Winchester M94 Collector Question?
I recently found a Win M94 in 0.25-35. with a 1600, XXX serial number (1950 production). It has the right shotgun ass, ramp-style sight, barrel band on the back of the front face, and long forearm. The thing that is incomprehensible to me, it's what seems to me a plant saddle ring installed. Has anyone else seen any one of these vintage M94 in the saddle ring? I think this is my fault for not clarifyijng things a bit. Winchester, according The M1894's and 94's I've seen, saddle rings discontinued sometime in the late 1930s. I am aware that the USRA when they were "Winchesters" saddle put rings on a few of their models in the 80's and 90 shots. I was strict with respect to the pre-war and post-war 1963. I also know that in the "old" days "(the last decades of the years 1800 to WWI) you could send an order directly to the factory and get just the extras you wanted. These days so-called closed the Great War.
I have run over several saddle ring carbines built with style shotgun stocks. Winchester would build to order ……….. many opportunities for sights and finishes. If you snap this document … a factory saddle ring on a 50's vintage whould quite rare … It may be worth the price of a factory letter to find out how it was built. I have a modest collection of 94's … Winchester with options "never say never"
