Why I love dressup games
Dressup games are certainly not new. In fact, I loved the different types of fashion games for much longer than most people have even realized they are around. The trip by the fashion game is long, but fortunately it is quite enjoyable on the road.
Dolls and Dressup Games
The earliest were dressup Barbie – the only fashion doll is available twenty odd years ago. The Barbie games were simple enough – plastic doll with a few outfits to choose out. I found the ball gowns and best of all we could drag the Barbies with cars, horses and houses to all be together. When the games were a bit blase, have we just spiced them a bit.
The best ways we have some life back into Barbie games was to make our own clothes. Not particularly blessed with seamstress skills, had most of my Barbie dress constructed of odd socks. The narrow neck of the sock was a perfect micro dress socks in all colors and we had to complete under the sun Barbie's wardrobe.
Paper Dolls
After killing of Barbie's hair more than a few times, I moved to the next kind fashion dolls – paper dolls and doll clothing plates. Paper dolls as educational and entertaining they are. I had a huge collection of paper dolls in all manner of dress and styles. The paper dolls were in the book and you had to cut out all of the dolls and clothing if you wanted to play with them. I collected the books from various sources, mainly on family vacations.
Sometimes I cut out the dolls and other times I did not. But either way, I spent hours looking at the beautiful dresses of the Victorian era or imagined how was on the hot plains of Texas with my Pioneer paper dolls. I had such enormous numbers of paper dolls, they filled a small suitcase and I still have them today.
Fashion Plates
After the paper dolls, I developed a love for fashion plates. The plates can create your own design by simply positioning different dolls raised photos in a page of paper. Arrange the head, body and legs as you like and then rub a crayon over the top to a page of fashion design. The end result is the mode of your own, like the dress-up dolls we love today.
Dressup Dolls Today
Today there are lots of Barbie and Bratz games, but the paper dolls seem to have moved online. Playing paper dolls is a virtual thing. Playing with dolls, select a basic doll and then you find you like the outfits on the doll. There No cutting and pasting involved, although I've found you need to dig a little harder to find the historical aspects of the fashion dolls. But regardless, I love the fashion dolls much as I always like dressup games.
Summary:
Dress up games have evolved from Barbie dolls, paper dolls, fashion plates and now online dress up games. If the manner of dress is made evolved, everyone has access to a wide range of clothes to use for the dress to be displayed.
