London Fashion Week for Fall / Winter 2010
frumpy to funky London based Personal Stylist, Karen Grace, comments on a couple of shows on the catwalk London Fashion Week Autumn / Winter 2010
PROPHETIK "Southern Shores" catwalk show.Designer JEFF GARNER
Result 19Feb10 at Vauxhall Fashion Scout
Tennessee based Prophetik kicked the LFW catwalk show at Vauxhall Fashion Scout, Freemason's Hall, Covent Garden. And what a kick-off!
In the beginning we are lulled into thinking of a carefree southern country theme and violinist Anna Cwad start toe tapping music, with ex-Paramore Jason Bynum joined her on guitar. Then the band Man Raze shatters the illusion with their blend of punk and pop rock. Not surprising when their ex-Sex Pistols drummer Paul Cook and their vocals / guitar ex-Def Leppard Phil Collen. And let's not forget their bassist Simon Laffy from British glam rock band Girl band.
Man Raze to accelerate the pace, the show began A/W10 ethical designer Jeff Garner's collection titled "Southern Shores. His inspiration came from the American Civil War and sees hope and romance with struggle and uncertainty.
Main color palette in real civil war colors were blue, gray with a hint of red.
The men's coats and looked seriously looking ¾ length coats, jackets, vintage buttons, boots and neckties peace.
For women, the designs ranged from breeches, torn leggings, military coats and capes for all Little House on the Prairie-style dresses. In between were mini-dresses and long flowing dresses, both with flat heeled boots.
At the end of the show, the music softens as Jeff Garner appeared to find the part of the Southern Gent a walk with his Southern Belle in her striking long red velvet bustier dress.
Garner's collection is the evidence that no fashion look to be harmed in the making of ethical clothing.
Prophetik is a durable men's and women's collection label using environmentally friendly materials such as Organic cotton, hemp, flax, Greenspun (recycled bottles) and organic pigments. One of their signature dresses "Elle" is made of silk and cotton elephants that painted in collaboration with the AEACP (Asian Elephant Art Conservation Project), which helps to raise money for an elephant sanctuary in Thailand. "
ORLA Kiely presentation TUESDAYS CHILD FALL / WINTER 2010
presents the Portico Rooms, Somerset House 19Feb10
The stage for the presentation Orla Kiely was impressive two make shift rooms decorated in 60's style with brown and beige designed Orla Kiely wallpaper in the living room and Dark & Light blue in the bedroom. The furniture was a 60's vintage and modern retro-looking television showed the collection on display. Models sat or stood in dresses and skirts above the knee together half calf with shoes and navy socks.
Patterns for wallpaper and dresses are inspired by abstract art Ivon Hutchins and the photography of Erwin Olaf, and the essence of falling autumn leaves.
Main color palette in the autumn – instead of cream white, various shades of brown, burnt orange and navy. The obligatory gray and black can be seen on some pieces.
Substances used mohair and silk crepe with traditional checked wool and wool jacquard,
The models wore their hair in a severe bun and make-up was kept simple, making a good contrast with the cute collars and nice update of the 60 retro style.
LAKOBUKIA "Emotions" catwalk show
Showing at Fashion Mavericks, the Strand Palace Hotel 20Feb10
With her collection titled A/W10 "Emotions" Lako Bukia wanted both positive and friendly and dark matter poor show emotions, shape and color.
The main color palette is black for the dark side and white for the lighter side of emotions. A few pieces of ice appear to show that not everything is black and white.
Substances used light soft flowing chiffon, a stiffer cotton silk and wool.
Geometric shapes can be seen on collars, and as a diagonal zippers. The zippers are also used as a bridge to join together the stiffer material with the softer tissues. Some pieces are obvious with the contrast between hard and soft tissues. In contrast, others can only be seen When the zipper is undone and then only reveal the hidden soft silk fabric underneath. Zippers on the shoulders and sides, giving the wearer the flexibility of changing her silhouette – when the mood takes her.
Lako's shoes look striking in black or white leather with soft triangular heels. She explains the triangle is a more gothic form and give a firmer emotional contrast to the softness of the leather.
Not surprisingly her favorite piece is the long flowing pleated chiffon dress in white along with cotton a little competitive edge backwards cape. The cape has a high collar, long lapels geometric represent the bad emotion. Once the cape is removed, the dress is free of restrictions and can drive on just the right emotions.
Lako Bukia, beginning fashion designer, was born on October 4, 1987 in the city of Tbilisi, the capital of Georgia. After graduating from School No. 58 in Tbilisi, she was immediately offered a place on the A. Kutateladze Tbilisi State Academy of Fine Arts, where she has her BA in Fashion Design and Textiles.
SADO "Geometric Glamour catwalk show.Designer CARLOTTA GHERZI

The young designer for the label was born Russian Sado Gherzi Carlotta (Italian parents), which provides a modern and elegant edge of the label.
The latest collection had a lot of styles that could be worn by real women, not just catwalk models. The main colors were black with blue and red pillar box.
Side dominated the tops, dresses and leggings that even brought the vibrancy of both the blue and red.
"Geometric glamor" is the title of this fall / winter 2010 collection – this was shown in the silk leggings, tops and dresses, all tucked into horizontal layers give texture and depth.
Black wearing glamorous knits with glitter woven into the broad horizontal bands produce sparkly
Silver and red brocade made an appearance for the evening dresses. Especially liked of silver brocade strapless maxi dress.
SADO signature is stylish and classic – this season's collection did not disappoint.
PARIS DOII "Walk in the forest "catwalk show

This was the first Korean designer catwalk Doii Lee's show in London and would not let her down.
The collection entitled "Walk in the forest" is inspired by her favorite Russian fairy tale "Baba Yaga" In this fairytale wicked stepmother sends her a beautiful step-daughter to the woods to visit her aunt, Baba Yaga, the witch.
Walked into Doii in the woods story, she walks through a maze intoxicating rose. Copper haired models wearing layered chiffon dresses and glittering sequined dresses – all in exclusive designer illustrated large print of pink roses. Red patent high-heeled shoes with patterned fabric tied around the ankles in large arcs corresponding to the vibrancy of the designs. White faux fur finishes and linings added softness in some of the stiffer sequined fabrics. The first outfit on the catwalk immediately caught our attention – straight long chiffon dress with a kick flare hem, draped with a long trailing scarf covered in sequins rose pattern and lined with white fur.
"A bird accompanies her on the right path" – the digital print now pigeons were flying white on orange / peach or very light chiffon fabric sequin belt Short double breasted jacket covered in sequins on big fat. pigeons looked spectacular with its contrasting print of blues and creams on the lapel. The dove print on the short and long chiffon dresses were more down stoned because of their smaller scale.
"A sunny garden full of beautiful memories "Main color palette was cream with a hint of blue, green and pink.'s print pot haze was discolored as if by the Sun Here we saw an egg-shaped sequins loose jacket with a sexy kick at the bottom and cuff. The contrasting print on the collar of dots added to the glamor.
The story and walk is darker, she is in turmoil-rich medium gray or brown are added to the mix. The print is more crowded and lively again. The patent shoes color changes from red to carefree serious black but still with the patterned fabric tied around the ankle. Here we saw a clear short-medium gray double breasted wool coat contrasting perfectly with her lapel clear pattern, belt, cuff bands and buttons.
"Her heart sank – black and gray dominate and designer of prints from black lace and netting on the sides features The sequined evening gowns, black fur coat on the other beautiful gowns (.. you can see a pattern emerging here – I'm loving the jackets), this time in black and white with a touch of gray. Egg-shaped, black fur collar and that sexy kick at the bottom and cuff. Slouchy black and gray fur leg warmers with zipper on the black patent shoes a touch of luxury. The silver gray lace print with wavy black lace sleeves made bishop of a simple egg-shaped mini-dress a knockout cocktail dress. And elbow length black lace puffed sleeves and lace tiered high yoke zoom and another silver gray print mini dress gave an Edwardian vintage look.
"But she knew she was protected." – Here the colors were pale gold and black Here we saw a gold sequins and black trenchcoat pattern with solid gray lapels, pockets and belt. A short gold sequined dress and black pattern was the 20's vintage look with a drop waist and a broad band of gold scalloped lace around the hem.
"My friend skeleton is always with me" – again black and white dominated the new print lace skulls Here we saw a luxurious knee-length fur wrap coat with silver gray fur wraps and a touch of sequins. skull prints, and a solid medium gray wool coat decorated mini wrap sequined skull print on the pockets, cuffs, belt and partial front with contrasting collar and polka dot trim.
"Then the goat queen of the forest at her side "- honey blonde models came out wearing pictures of the goat queen in creams, white, pale brown with a light touch of a padded blue egg-shaped. jacket, simply for the print and together with silver gray fur leg warmers. Other outfits trimmed with white faux fur Cossack gave an appearance.
"Divine roses bloom along the dark path of the forest "- Proving anything can look glamorous, it was a luxury duffle coat style makeover with a sequined print of roses along the path of the green forest, lining and light gray finish and faux fur with longer zoom on the back.
Chiffon dresses were long and short, some with a few of the signature sequins, some decorated with small hearts hanging down the back and some with their hems longer in the back. All were colorful and pattern.
Dresses in heavier fabrics were all embellished with Therefore sequins Doii print designs are dazzling.
My favorites were the coats: all the documents proving statement you do not have to wait to take off your coat before making an entrance.
Doii states that the lady who wears Doii Paris is a diva. The last model came out in a sequined black coat and big hat with fringes so long she reaches her shoulders. Not representative of the end of the story, but in true diva style, this piece would take center stage.

HAUTE BOHEMIAN FALL / Winter 2010

The bohemian style is to the husband and wife design duo (Suzanne Clements and Inacio Ribeiro) latest collection, but this is decadent bohemian glamorous. They chose to look back to the 70's around the time of Yves Saint Laurent made his Russian collection
The footwear was to die for – all decorated with sequins patterns. My favorites were the long slouchy boots in soft leather and slightly gathered at the top.
Sequins also dresses, pants and jackets decorated with crystals.
The collection is divided in clear sections:
One more male size category – the main color palette anthracite, black and dark plum.
Oversized knits were embellished, but In a monochrome display to create classic understated glamor.
The female part appeared silk dresses, skirts and tops in Paisley prints and marble swirl effect.
A pale gold dress and trousers and jackets adorned with sequins jacquard patterns or motifs Bejeweled. The colors were more muted in shades of green, gold, mustard, brown and taupe.
The more opulent section showed that for the heavier brocade jackets, skirts and jackets trimmed with sequins. Main color palette was black and midnight blue. Nice touch with the leather gloves trimmed with sequins.
This collection features sumptuous luxury need not be limited to evening wear.

CUT & Paste FALL / Winter 2010
Presents the Portico Room, Somerset House 21Feb10
Although advertised as a presentation designer Julie Wilkins presenting her label Future Classics A / W 10 collection was more like a mini-catwalk show. The banks were put out, so the models could walk down between them – so everyone had a front row view!
The inspiration for this collection was: "Cut and paste, craft works and Renaissance (WO) craftsmanship. "
Main color palette was neutral, and black (what else for the Classics) with a dash of pink and orange to brighten up the collection.
Many long knits with draped hoods, pants and leggings. Especially liked the denim leggings print. Clearer leggings in black or gray were an interesting look with a row of buttons sewn down the front.
Covers only the fur hats and sleeves give a more playful look.
Long black satin fingerless gloves reach above the elbow looked great with the layered chiffon LBDs.
This collection is for the woman who likes soft tailoring and knitwear, but wants a little design twist to its classic look.
