My Body Through My Eyes
Last month I turned 34 and vowed to be a little kinder to my body. I want to give more respect, to stop judging so hard to stop defining the norms of society. I resolve to love my body what it is, instead of hate for what it will never be continued.

I've got a thick mane of curly hair, symmetric functions, one nose fits my face. I am sure that when most people look at me, they notice little of the small imperfections that plague my body image. My body is healthy, it is strong and undamaged. But it is a body that I'm laden with defects like fine hairs on a photographic negative – only visible to the scrutiny of my overzealous eye.
Like many women from a size 12 teenager to an adult size 2, I will always see myself as inherently fat. I'm 40 pounds lighter and well within a healthy weight, but I live in a self-prescribed, perpetual diet. I float on a weight that keeps me just enough content to remain unmotivated to exercise. If the pants are too tight right out of the cabinet to feel rather than from the dryer, I motivate.
Snapshots of my teenager years reveal a girl with overweight and under status quo. More at ease under of powdered donut shop of my father than my mother's makeup bag, I have cemented those images on the refrigerator door of my mind, trying to protect me against fall back into that place. These images pop up when I need them like a cow-shaped cookie jar that moos when you open it, they are a mental reminder of the full-fat ice to dispense or the extra handful of peanut M & M's drop.
I look in the mirror and see anything I would change about my body as an editor Comments with red pen on a document – I see everything I would like to cut, delete and move. I'm not alone.
Nowadays you can ask a woman what she would like to change over her body and she will give you a list. Collagen that botox here, Lipo there, turn it, lift it.
Photos for me are a particular threat and require detailed attention to many elements at once. I'm in a corner slimmer, I do not like my face shot head-on, because it looks thicker. I prefer to be photographed with my right, I do not like the freckles on the left side of my face. When I laugh, I'm careful, so it is large enough to show my straight teeth, but not so large that it shows off my big gums. When I laugh, pops a vein in my forehead. I am very conscious of my hair – as the curling, the hair gets frizzy, when I wear it again, I seem bald.
I love my neck. As a chubby teenager, my mother used to joke that my father was short neck. Now I am a slim girl, I have a slender neck.
I do not like my boobs – For so many reasons. Too small, too saggy, completely wrong. My breasts had success on the one thing which they should be effective – breastfeeding – I would stay more appreciation for them.
I hate my dog, as I call it – my protruding abdomen, despite an otherwise indented, hourglass waist. My pooch is often the number one spot for most hated body part, its main competition my legs. The shape of my legs is awful, a broad thick knee arises from an otherwise normal calf connect with fatty thighs. A trail of unattractive varicose veins runs down half the length of my leg – a roaring river of my inner thigh to mid calf.
I love my calves and my arms toned, although they are often not included in a sexy category. I love my back – her strength, her clean expanse of skin, the tattoo have I chose to put there.
I hate my feet, they are too wide in the fourth toe hiding behind the third – the lone inhibited bone in my body. But I maintain of admiration for them, they have successfully transported me through many of the areas of life as I collected memories in his path.
I am eternally grateful for the services my womb. The success housed and fed my growing son for 10 months.
Historically, we exist at a point where the average person has access to almost everything about their bodies change. Our society has become a culture that changes, rather than according to those who accept the differences and individuality.
Hollywood has permeated our lives, confronts us with Ken and Barbie-like ideals. Synthetic idols as models for a society that strives – often through dramatic measures – to ourselves connected to the same plastic mold.
My boyfriend is a brilliant photographer who often succeeds in making his subjects striking look. "I pull something nice for the person and focus on that," he says.
As I stare at a reflection in the mirror of imperfection, I wish I could see my body by his admiring eyes. I often catch him staring at me, his eyes diving into the mine. He does not see my ordinary brown eyes, he dives, soul-first, into a kaleidoscope of brown, glistening with golden spots.
Now if more of the world can see through an artist's eye …

I'm not a huge Barbie fan. But I played with them as a little girl and I was okay. I do not think I have the waist with double G's or a 14-inch, nor do I have a habit of wearing uber-short skirts. I do not know if I ever buy one my daughter. if I did, she would be with a beautiful theme, such as veterinarians or mommy barbie barbie instead of the sleazy-looking fashion ones that look like something from a strip club. Not my thing. And do not even get me going on Bratz dolls! There's something strange about a little girl playing with a sexy-looking doll. I'd rather play something else.
