Make Money on eBay – the little guy can still make money on eBay?
I get this question a lot and it has three answers: "Yes", "no" and "maybe". Let's see what applies to you.
There is no doubt that much more difficult for individual operating from their home to make money on eBay today than it was a few years ago. When I started on eBay in 1999, eBay is a license to print money. A little boy (or girl) if you or I could sell almost anything and money. As far as finding merchandise to sell you could source garage sales or buy surplus and overstocked products from hundreds of dealers. Today however, many of the same Dealers who use to sell it to me, now selling the same items on eBay at the same price they used to sell it to me.
There are some overstock dealers who can supply product, but they are less. There is a lot more competition on eBay today than in past years. Today there are over 1000 large companies with employees, warehouses and advanced distribution systems that are competing for the eBay bidder. Besides the independent high-power sellers there are companies such as Disney, Lands End, Bloomingdales Department Store and many others both lists directly on eBay or have hired companies to their merchandise for them to sell under a different name.
Three Strategies to make money on eBay
So what is the little man doing? There are three basic strategies for success on eBay today. There may be more – but I know that these three works, for I have done and in fact still they do.
Make Money on eBay by selling used goods
The first strategy is to sell used goods including antiques and collectibles. The market for each type of used goods on eBay will always be a matter for the small seller. The difficulty of sourcing merchandise makes this a difficult area for large companies. On the higher end of the market for used his art, antiques, collectibles and rare books. If you have any knowledge and experience in this area, it is very easy to implement. My wife and I had a small antiques shop before we started selling on eBay, so we knew what was valuable, what the values of the items were and where to find them. I can walk in a small town auction in America on a weekend and buy a few items that I can turn around and sell on eBay the next week and double my money or more. In fact, we still do it occasionally. About one month before I was writing this article, we attended a small town auction in Mt. Vernon, Washington. I bought a box of 1950 vintage advertising tins as a party for $ 175.
I broke the lot and sold the pieces individually on eBay over a period of 14 days for more than $ 400 total for eBay and PayPal fees. There were some other advertising pieces selling at the same auction that I did not bid on. They were very clever fakes – repros as they are known in the trade. The point is to tell you that I could spot, but you could not unless you had the knowledge and experience. The lesson here is that you do not want to go into an area you know nothing about. But if you have experience in a specific area of art, antiques, collectibles, stamps, coins, or rare books, this is a perfect – and fairly easy place to build a profitable eBay business.
You do not work in antiques and collectibles. There are plenty of other used goods on eBay. In my book, The Complete eBay Marketing System, I have a list of all areas of used goods on eBay. Make Money on eBay with a niche market
The following strategy to make money on eBay is to develop a small specialized niche market. This is actually what most the successful eBay sellers do. I often get emails from eBay newbies asking me where they can buy DVDs, plasma TVs, digital cameras, iPods and other popular consumer electronics products. I suggest you forget trying to a popular mass consumer product to sell. These fields are very crowded, very competitive and is dominated by many large vendors with resources and access to resources that the average person can not duplicate unless you thousands or even hundreds of thousands of dollars to invest. Do you really think you eBay can compete with Best Buy and Circuit City?
A niche is a small specialized product category that a small seller can play in. I currently sell in different niches on eBay. A product I sell is a line of high-priced wood burning campfires. I do have some competitors, but not many and I think I'm a better job of selling them. The price of $ 227 is a high average selling price, so I do not have hundreds of items to sell to earn money. They are drop shipped directly from the manufacturer, so I 'm not paying a broker and the market for these products has continued for over two years. You can see my firepit auctions by clicking here. Make Money Selling on eBay with Shipment
The last strategy I want to point out to make money eBay is consignment selling. I want the perfect eBay company call: No upfront investment in products, no inventory, high profits and minimum costs. Once you qualify will simply register as an eBay Trading Assistant and eBay will help you promote your business for free.
Once you know how to sell on eBay, it's pretty easy to people to find goods to sell. My strategy uses low cost targeted advertising. I spent less than $ 40 per month a few months and ultimately by more than $ 10,000 or more worth of goods to sell.
The trick to succeed in the eBay consignment business in learning how to market your services to learn what kind of goods to sell – And which to reject and how you control your costs. So back to the original question: Can the little guy still make money on eBay? The answer "yes" if you apply some of the strategies and techniques which I described here and if you take the time to learn the skills you need. The answer is "maybe" if you try some other techniques or just stumble into around trying to learn as you go. And the answer is probably "no" If you try to compete with the big boys unless you use the financial resources and experience in business to actually build a large Consumer Products.

Ask the experts for Fender Telecaster?!
I'm about to spend about $ 500 or so on a guitar and decided on a Telecaster – which? But I play rhythm guitar in a group that plays a bit of everything – classic rock, alternative, even a little country post. I have a chance of getting a '06 MIK Lite Ash by Heading: Has all new vintage American parts and electronics with the exception of the bridge plate / saddles. CTS 250K pots and 4-way Fender switch (bridge, Neck / Bridge series, Neck, Neck / Parallel Bridge). Custom Made Translucent Pearl pickguard by Pick Guardian. Pup's neck Rickenbacker style Filertron, bridge Alnico Hot 60's Repro 9.4K. Killer Sound. Has Fender Round Vintage tuners and Trees. Comes with duffle bag. Or … I could go for a new Nashville Tele … because I like all the tonal possibilities using the extra pickup. I I read that if you to go up on stage with just a guitar, this is the one. Thoughts? Which way would you go?
Of these two choices. I would be a '06 MIK Lite Ash. Ash telecaster twang gives a very good sound. (This is what players expect from the remote) but I nver played nashvilled. So I could not comment, but if you nashville required because you only need one guitar on stage. I would not recommend it, I would suggest you buy her guitar caractoristic not all in one guitar. (If you still wanted a guitar on stage. I would recommend Variax Line 6) I have always 3-4 guitars for 10 songs to show. This is my guitars last night show. 1. Fender Telecaster Custom Shop Flathead – Drop D tunning 2. Fender Telecaster RI52 – tunning to make Maroon 5's songs. Normal 3. Ibanez JEM7VSBL – Eb tuniing for doing 4 80's metal. Ibanez JEM77SK Standard tunning for 80's metal too. A guitar is not enough for the show.
