DC Comics rounds in June by releasing the third and final anniversary issue next Batman and Superman. After a 70-year history gets a bold new Wonder Woman costume change, as given to her when she gave her the role of Wonder Woman on Artemis.
According to the present writer J. Michael Straczynski, the new costume reflects both its origins in the Amazon world and the outside world. It is designed for the 21st century as the story reflects these changes. The new costume was designed by co-publisher DC Comics Jim Lee. The costume is giving female fans an answer to the question "How does she fight in that thing without falling off its entirety? or "What woman wearing the same outfit for sixty years without accessorizing? "This is a version of Wonder Woman Wildstorm. Stan Lee's version of Wonder Woman was better.
The problem is filled with pinups and I felt like I went through a Swimsuit Issue. Gail Simone story has no emotional depth to her story, except that other cult heroes like Wonder Woman and a real waste idol George Perez art. When I look at someone who was worthy to write Wonder Woman I will definitely get to choose Amanda Conner. She brings a connection to the story, and a sense of humor, which brings Wonder Woman's character.
Louise Simonson did a filler issue with a team-up with Superman. Geoff Johns story with one of my favorite artist is Scott Kolin short to really judge, because it was a prequel to J. Michael Straczynski prologue to Odyssey. Is this still make any sense?
In interviews Straczynski gave us the background of the story. The time-shifting by the Olympic gods that Wonder Woman has changed, so they grew up in the modern urban environment with little memory or connection to its mythical origins. The reason for the change to a new and fresh atmosphere to bring to the series.
They have changed the timeline for some unknown reason and the Gods removed their protection from paradise Island and left it vulnerable to attack. Hippolyta gave her 3 years old daughter to a handful of guards in a desperate act before the island was destroyed. Her mother and most of the Amazons were slain on the island and Diana was taken to New York.
Now, twenty years later, Diana is not aware of the other timeline except for flashbacks and yet have access to her powers. Wonder Woman is reborn and starts a new mission to avenge the fall of Paradise Island and search for the gods, who left the island. Almost feels like an episode of Lost: We have flashbacks and an island.
As much as I really wanted this anniversary issue really do not enjoy to meet the hype.
