The Nature of Rare Collectibles.
As their name suggests, all rare collectibles are scarce, difficult to find items. They can be antiques that are desirable because of their age, type of craftsmanship, or another unique feature that represents the past. Some rare collectibles are so old that they are considered to be antiquities – artifacts of an ancient civilization like the ancient Greek and Chinese society. Alternatively, rare collectibles can be very recent origin, sometimes only a few years old.
The common denominator of all rare collectibles, no matter what their type or age, is rarity. Often because of their scarcity and their appeal, rare collectibles are also valuable. But whether they are valuable or cheap, rare collectibles are important pieces in a collection.

The definition of "rare" or "rarity" is changing the nature of the object, and thus the definition of "rare collectibles" is somewhat unclear – there is no strict boundary between what is "rare" and what is "not uncommon." In some cases an item is considered a rare collectible, because only one or two examples of that object is known to exist in the world. In other cases, hundreds or even thousands of a particular object may have survived to the present, but their existence has not been discovered (such as very old porcelain dolls that have been kept in a coffin that is now buried in an attic) or they are fragile and easily damaged (such as pottery, an early stamp or a piece of paper ephemera 200 years old), high quality examples are considered to be scarce.
Virtually any type of object can be a rare collectible, as scarce enough.
Thousands of different types of rare collectibles are around the world. Certain coins and stamps, books and manuscripts, pottery, weapons and other militaria, antique tools, original art, antique furniture, and paper can all be rare ephemera collectables. "Paper ephemera" consists of written or printed material of the present survived despite the pieces originally were produced as disposable items intended to be quickly discarded or destroyed. Examples of ephemera that may include some rare collectibles postcards, posters, business cards, leaflets, exhibition programs and advertising flyers, all common enough at the moment, but usually discarded almost immediately. Some signatures, travel souvenirs and memorabilia collectible collectibles are rare.
Rare collectibles can be from anywhere in the world and every culture. Rare Oriental collectibles Small items such as pottery or Chinese Dynastic temple objects, and large items such as articles of traditional clothing or armor of the Japanese feudal period. European Rare collectables are equally varied and range from ancient Greek sculpture at the beautifully lit (see picture) cards that were prepared during the early cartographers the Age of Exploration in the 16th century. Collectible, rare artifacts from America include certain pieces of Native American (Indian) pottery, blankets and beadwork, original historical documents of Colonial and revolutionary times, and the ancient Inca, Aztec or Mayan amulets, pottery and carvings.
Therefore collect rare Collectibles?
Many people find rare collectibles because of their intrinsic value. For these people, rare collectibles are a form of investment. But the primary motivation for many collectors is the "thrill of the hunt" – that certain feeling of satisfaction that is felt as a very difficult piece to find is identified and finally somewhere in the world.
